THE LOCAL ECONOMIES of Tipperary and Limerick are set for an economic boost with the creation of 46 new jobs, Irish electricity provider Pinergy has said.
The new jobs were announced this morning and come as a cooperative effort between the energy provider and management company DSM.
The positions will be in sales and based in DSM’s offices across the two counties.
This brings the total number of people employed by Pinergy up to 89. The company currently provide electricity to over 15,000 customers.
At today’s launch it was stated by chief executive Enda Gunnell that the company would have a turnover of more than €25 million by the end of the year. He hoped that the company would have more than 70,000 customers by 2017.
At the launch, Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly welcomed the investment.
“This is a hugely welcome boost to Tipperary town and will have a hugely positive impact on the local economy and will be greatly appreciated by the local business community,” he said.
Offering pay-as-you-go electricity to consumers, Pinergy was launched last year by Irish rugby international Paul O’Connell.
O’Connell is involved in the company through investment. On his role in the company he said:
I’m delighted to be part of Pinergy. It is a young, dynamic Irish company that is providing its customers with real choice and smart solutions in the area of electricity.
