More than 100 jobs to be created in Dublin, Meath and Belfast

The jobs will be created by four companies over the next two years.

FOUR COMPANIES HAVE have announced the creation of more than 100 jobs this morning in Dublin, Belfast and Meath.

Two companies in Kells Enterprise and Technology Centre, SWG and MDS Global Technologies, said they will create 50 jobs in Meath over the next two years.

These companies are part of the SmartStart global accelerator programme which works with start-ups to provide financial, legal, technology and business development guidance.

SWG, a Philadelphia based company, works with customers to grow their telecommunications networks, repurpose, reuse and recycle their existing telecommunications equipment. US based company MDS Global Technologies transports IP data using existing infrastructure and networks. Both companies will creates 25 jobs.

Minister of State for Skills, Research and Innovation Damien English said this is a “very significant development for County Meath the region and indeed Ireland as we continue to attract high potential start-ups and established technology SMEs looking to expand in to Europe”.

Whiskey

And if you like whiskey, you’ll love this announcement. The Dublin Whiskey Company is also creating 30 jobs in a new distillery and visitor centre in the capital.

The company will be investing over €10 million in developing its 300 year old site in Mill Street, Dublin 8. Over 60 people will be employed during the construction phase beginning in early 2015 with 30 permanent jobs coming on-stream upon completion at the latter end of the year.

Security

Meanwhile, Ward Solutions, an information security provider, also announced 22 new jobs for its Dublin and Belfast offices. These jobs are being created as part of a new €1.8 million investment to fund expansion and upgrade of all services delivered in the company’s Security Operations Centre in Citywest, Dublin.

Ward Solutions will begin recruitment immediately and will have all 22 new employees on board within two years. This will bring total employee numbers to 80 before the end of 2016. 16 of the new hires will be based in Citywest, Dublin and 6 will be based in its new office in Belfast city centre. The new roles will include information security engineers, developers, information security consultants, customer services and sales positions.
