A PAKISTANI VIDEO game based on a Taliban school massacre of more than 150 people, mostly children, in the country’s northwest has been removed after triggering a social media uproar, with critics blasting it as tasteless.
The game, called Pakistan Army Retribution, was released by the Punjab IT board on Google Play, and invites the player to step into the shoes of a soldier shooting extremists in the hallways of a school.
It is inspired by Pakistan’s deadliest ever insurgent attack that saw nine Taliban gunmen storm a school in Peshawar city, shooting students and teachers in cold blood and occupying the school for hours until they were killed by the army.

The December 2014 assault shocked Pakistan, already scarred by a decade of attacks, and emotional ceremonies marking the anniversary were held across the country last month.
But after an article lampooning the game in Pakistan’s most widely read English language newspaper Dawn on Monday, social media users lambasted its makers for exploiting the tragedy.

“Distasteful”
“Bizarre and distasteful,” user Shaheryar Mirza wrote.
“Play the APS game on Android, kill the bad guys, empathy and good taste in one go,” wrote Fasi Zaka, referring to the Army Public School that was targeted in the grisly attack.
The Punjab Information Technology Board, a government body aggressively promoting digital innovation in the central Pakistan province, offered a mea culpa on Twitter.

“The APS game has been removed. It was in poor taste,” its head Dr Umar Saif wrote.
“Thank you for highlighting this mistake. We have made the amends.”
By this afternoon, the game was no longer available on Google Play.

Having a clubnight stamp on your arm regardless of what it says does not make anybody a tramp. That comment is idiotic in its entirety. “Most young women are these days” is a grossly over simplified and sweeping statement with nothing behind it besides your own obviously daft opinion.
SR : what’s that on your arm?
SR’s angel: oh mammy, it was awful. They pinned me down and forcefully put this rude word on my arm. I only went in to use the toilet.
SR: I know, I know my innocent angel. I’ll get on my high horse and sort this out.
This night club has been running for 3 years and as the statement has said not ONE complaint was made by anyone regarding the stamp or name.
Sineads daughter obviously is over 18 entering into the club and therefore classed as an adult, whether she doesnt agree about the stamp, her adult daughter made the choice to accept the stamp on her arm, if she didnt want to get the stamp on her arm, the club organisers would have adviced an alternative stamp.
The only reason this is in the media, is because of the name, not the fact that it is the one of the busiest and most friendly group you could ask for in Dublin night life. It creates a possitive atmosphere and encourages sub cultures to come together for a night filled with fun, laughter and general good night.
Anyone who disagrees with the name and upset by it.. remember back to when you were younger and had fun? Im sure Sineads daughter had a great night but yet its not outlined in any source of media.
What a load of piffle – as if the quality of the entertainment was the issue here! You related to the owner? God, I despair – would have expected more enlightenment from a young woman.
What a load of piffle – as if the age of the poster was the issue here! You related to Sinead Ryan? God, I despair – would have expected more enlightenment from an older woman.
My point here Ruth was, The likes of you and other people who are offended, have not attended this club night nor have you even heard about it prior today.
The people who go to this night club are happily aware what the name of the club and are WILLING to get a stamp from it. these people are adults… making their own decisions.
Still – it’s better than having your daughter parading around with her panties on her wrist. (I’m not saying she does, but we DO remember the uproar over the trend @ a certain D4 rugby club disco.)
Either her daughter has tiny arms or they are using a huge stamp, also I presume her daughter was thrown out of the club because if she received the stamp ‘c.u.n.t.’ or as the promoters suggest ‘c u next Tuesday’ it wouldn’t make any sense to let her back in………
Its been running for 3 years but some girls mammy decided to announce it to the world on Twitter and its gathered a bit of attraction…. it’ll be forgotten about in the morning…. urgh first world problems
Personally I like the tongue in cheek use of the word. Trying to desensitise the word is a good idea. Ever been to FAG? Have done great work in promoting the club. Sinead don’t be a C***, give the place a try!
I’m sick to the back teeth of these professionally offended dinner party lefties. Do they actually hang around all day waiting for someone to offend them until finally the moment arrives and they erupt in a semi-orgasmic fit of “WELL I NEVER!”. Please. No one is forcing her to subsidise her daughter’s clubbing.
Of course etymologically speaking “c*nt” originated as the proper English word for certain body parts. It is finding the word offensive which is misogynistic. Not the use of the word itself.
Not skewed logic at all. By finding or using c*nt offensively you say you find female organs, female sexuality and probably femininity itself offensive. Why would it be insulting unless you were insulted by the very idea of women?
The perpetually offended are out again. Perhaps she should ask her daughter the relevance of the word nowadays and ask her why she didnt balk at getting it stamped on her arm.
She’s ascribing a mysognistic subtext to the word which doesn’t really exist here. Would she be as vocal if someone had “DICK” written on their arm? Or feck, arse, or any other commonly used swearword?
I wouldn’t have a problem because if that’s the best insult they can throw at me they obviously aren’t that bright themselves. C*nt means VAGINA! And 51% of the human population have one! If vagina isn’t a ‘bad’ word then why is c*nt? There are many an insult much worse than being called a vagina. For example: narrow-minded, intolerant, self absorbed, a bigot, a bully. Oh my I could go on and on! Being called a body part doesn’t offend me. Do you have the same aversion to people being called dick?
The Laughter Lounge stamps ‘Puff’ on my wrist. My wrist is neither limp nor am I currently a smoker though I prefer the term ‘Fag’ when labelling me ;)
Does anyone young care about this or is it just the older generations expressing their outrage at the sacred and profane no longer being so sacred or profane?
If you don’t want the stamp, don’t get it. You can just ask them to stamp the letter C.
would you not just wash it off? ive been to this night numerous times, staff and people in it were lovley. only place ive been to that i have never seen a fight in. i think theres more important issues to be tackled then this. grow up
I can curse and swear with the best of them, but I don’t use this swear word because I don’t like it. When I was growing up it was a “bad” curse, however over time the use of words change and they are viewed differently. This I just have to accept and get over myself, so if the people attending the Tuesday night bash choose to have it stamped on their arm that’s their business. There’s a lot more serious things happening in this country than a removable stamp on someones arm.
Ok, I really don’t get why people have a problem with this word… It’s just a word after all and to get offended so much allows it too much power over u. Unless you’ve asked the bouncer to stamp it on to your face and u have work or a court appearance the next day then it’s no big deal….
kinda reminds me about when they changed the name of dyke night as the word was considered controversial….except they changed it to the pussy wagon which was just awful
………….“has long since lost any misogynistic connotations in Ireland, where it is used liberally in all sorts of contexts”.
And that is a defence?
”Any suggestion that our club name is intentionally offensive to women is misguided and without foundation and we reject the suggestion in the strongest possible terms.” Ok – remove the word “intentionally”. I am a woman. I am offended.
Yeah Rita you may take offence that’s your right so what you should do is not go to that club and don’t get the stamp. It’s very simple! Then those not offended by a series of 4 letters lined up to spell a word can attend to their hearts content and even have it stamped on their face if they feel like it!
Don’t get so worried about it just don’t go then no one will stamp it on you and you won’t be offended.
Funny that the majority of people who are commenting on this are men and for obvious reasons don’t object or have a problem with the C word. But I’d like to ask those of you who don’t get what the problem is because as you all say – its only a word, would you like to hear it coming out of your daughters mouth or your mothers – if you’re being honest with yourself the answer would be no.
What a small mind you have – you make assumptions about my stance on abortion without me ever having mention the word, let alone express a view on the subject.
I’m a woman and I remain un-offended. C unt means vagina GASP THE HORROR THE HORROR. Its a word and to the youth of today it is merely no different than any ‘bad’ word. There are many things worse than being called a c u n t. Like ignorant, intolerant, self absorbed, a bigot oh I could go on!
Clearly a sign of the lack of self respect and public probity that is endemic in our ‘civilised’ society. Anyone that suggests the acronym and name are not deliberately rude or controoversial and cheap publicity is fooling themselves
The promoters are even kind enough that if you say you don’t want the word across your arm, leg or wherever you want, that you can get the “C” only! They unerstand some people don’t want it but for those who don’t care, myself included, they’ll gladly stamp you with the full stamp and watch you have an oul giggle at it!
I wonder does this poor “child” know that her mother and by sad default, she has caused this shitstorm for absolutely no reason? A mother who worries about what there obviously adult child has stamped on their arm needs to get some serious perspective. What a joke.
Lets vote to have one across every politicians forehead in the country next time we have an election, at least after the vote people couldn’t act all surprised.
The owners are laughin’ ….. free advertising. Lighten up….. if you are offended dont go there. SEE YOU NEXT TUESDAY – acronym is SYNT. This is the exact reaction they wanted.
These ”teenagers” are consenting adults with freedom of choice just like the people who be-moan the stamp. This night has been running for 3 years and is only become newsworthy this week? Hardly outrageous as it’s just adults doing as they please, forget the undermining elderly opinion this is a free country and any of the little offence this stamp causes is misinterpreted and not forced on people anyway. Also for the record there is a Homosexual night in Dublin that brands entrants with ”F.A.G.” so maybe something will be said about this now also? It is designed to de-sensitize the word and many of its goers see the humour of branding themselves with it, they are proud and completely un-offended.
