Microsoft sells more than 2 million Xbox One consoles in 18 days

The Xbox One has sold an average of 111,111 units a day since it first launched.

MICROSOFT HAS ANNOUNCED that the Xbox One has sold more than 2 million units in its first 18 days.

The console, which went on sale globally on 22 November, has sold an average of 111,111 units each day, which Microsoft claim is a “record-setting pace.”

More than 83 million hours have been spent playing games, watching TV and using apps on the system since it launched.

The company said that it’s working hard to meet consumer demand and is delivering consoles to retailers in time for the Christmas period.

The Playstation 4 has seen similar success having sold 2.1 consoles worldwide in its first two weeks. It was released in the US and Canada on 15 November and in Europe, Latin America, and Australasia two weeks later.

Both consoles have had good starts as they ease into the Christmas period. The Playstation 4 has been released in 32 countries while the Xbox One is currently available in 13 countries. Microsoft will be bringing the console to eight more European countries next year.
