Volkswagen recalls 1,256 cars in Ireland

If you have a Volkswagen Polo 1,2 TDI, you should definitely read this.

IF YOU HAVE a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TDI, pay close attention because the company is recalling 1,256 of them in Ireland.

Today Volkswagen announced it is recalling Polo vehicles produced between 2012 and 2014 with the 1.2 TDI 70bhp engine. Quality assurance at the company has found that, in isolated cases, vibrations can be transmitted to the cover of the fuel filter because of pressure pulstations in the fuel lines and engine pulsations while driving.

“This can crack the filter cover in the area of the supply neck can lead to a fuel smell inside the vehicle and a leak of diesel fuel,” the company said today.

There is no cause for concern and letters will be sent to owners of the affected vehicles where they will be asked to arrange an appointment to have the work completed at their authorised Volkswagen service agent.

The company assured customers that any work carried out as part of this recall will be free of charge.

Consumers who are concerned that they may be affected by the recall can contact Volkswagen customer service on the lo-call number 1850 812 761.
