One major problem with iPhones though compared with Android. iPhones only have a one year warranty. Considering the minimum contract period required to purchase one on billpay is 18 months it kind of leaves you stuffed for the final 6 months of your contract. At least all Android phones and Nokias have a 2 year warranty which covers the full duration of the longest contracts on bill-pay. Also, the battery in an iPhone is a built-in battery and can’t be removed without physically opening the iPhone. The iPhone warranty, as with some other mobile manufacturers, doesn’t cover the battery. If the battery fails you have no recourse. The only way to replace the battery is by physically opening the phone which instantly renders the rest of the warranty on the phone null and void. At least with most Sony, Samsung and HTC phones the back cover is easily removed without affecting the warranty. Also, a little bit of flexibilty when it comes to customising the GUI would make the iPhone a lot more attractive to a lot of people. I respect Apple for what they do. They have excellent quality products, but their rigidity and superiority complex, their ridiculously high prices, their lack of cross-compatibility, as well as their lack of comprehension for the markets in which they operate (going back to the contract vs. warranty issue) are the reasons why Android is excelling and Apple is falling behind. For me it’s the final three points that have stopped me from ever buying an Apple product.

I’m loathe to contribute to an iPhone v android argument. I am not against android but I have never owned an android phone so cannot comment on them. However I have owned my iPhone 3GS for almost two years now and it still runs perfectly on the most up to date iOS. It has never let me down and still does everything I could ask of it. For this reason I will stick with apple for now.

Apples closed ecosystem has always been an issue for me. The build quality of their products is excellent but if I’m parting with hard earned cash I expect to own the device I pay for, Apple clearly doesn’t allow this and it will be their ultimate downfall IMO.

I recently switched from an iPhone to the HTC One X! The difference is unbelievable! Android is so much smoother than iOS and the HTC runs so efficiently when compared to the iphone! Apple make their products in a way that they’ll only work with other apple products which is highly annoying! I know that people who are good with computers could probably mess with the operating system but for everyday users this just isn’t feasible! Android is so varied and customisable that it is starting to become a serious competitor to apple!

Fake!!! What about dock connector?? From that video looks like there will be different dock connector. Would Apple change it’s standard dock connector to mini/micro USB? I don’t think so. There is so many docking stations for standard Apple connection.

There is going to be an amazing battle between the SIII and the iPhone5, the two big players on the market. Forget about HTC or Windows. They will be the two to look out for.

Using the S3 for the last week and it is an amazing phone. Camera and graphics are stunning. Also loved the S2. I have used the iphone 4, a great piece of kit but sorry, absolutely no comparison to the Samsung. But hey, horses for courses.

I have galaxy s2 and I telling you this is the best selling smartphone with 28 million sales so far and the launch of the s3 will blow apple to bits with its widgets and live wallpaper and speed and load of free apps. Don’t touch apple come to Samsung

Lol at people urging us not to believe in Apple marketing but switch to Samsung, who are portrayed as a charitable organisation who even according to one poster do not charge for their phones.
Can Fandroids please customise yourselves and play with your widgets and let iPhone users enjoy their phones.
All this talk of Apple falling behind but I see lots more of them around every day than Samsungs and their next model will sell millions.

I would check my dictionary very hard for a definition of the word radical. A bigger screen to conform to the way of the smartphone industry trend is hardly an earth moving experience in the sucessivly conformist line of iGeneric products. I wonder who will claim a patent on larger than 3.5 inch screen to tey block this release.

Had the iPhone 4 nearly 2 years now… Still in perfect working order and I have no intention of upgrading. Still a top phone

I use the 4s and my wife has an s2 , we swapped for a couple of days I wanted my iPhone back as soon as possible , she didn’t want to give it back .make of that what you want!

HTC One X.. enough said!
After the way the problems/issues were handled by Apple and Steve on the release of the i-phone 4 is still very fresh in my mind..
Would never buy from them again.

I hate when people go on about Apple as if they made the first smart phone or the first touch screen phone or the first phone to have a camera or the first phone to have a front facing camera.

Apple are great at taking someone else’s idea and packaging it in a lovely designed box that people buy just for the Apple logo.

Wow what a radical new design!! (Not) I have iPhone 4 & expected a little bit more effort on the design front! If this is what it’s going to look like that is!
