TELEVISION AND BROADBAND provider UPC has today announced that it is to create 50 new jobs in the coming weeks and also invest €80 million into its broadband network.

The jobs being created will range from customer service and sales to management and administrative roles which will support the company during its growth phase.

UPC CEO, Dana Strong said: “We’re experiencing an increase in demand for our services right across the group from both residential and business customers.  To support the growth of our business operations it is necessary to increase resources to match consumer demand”.

UPC currently employs 845 people in Ireland.

The communications company has already invested €400 million in its fibre network and plans to inject a further €80 million into the infrastructure in order to extend the reach of its services, including HD and Video on Demand

Recently UPC announced that 99 per cent of its broadband customers will be upgraded to speeds of 20Mbs or more by September.

Dana, if you’re reading this, can I point out something to you?

You sent me a text last week to tell me that as a valued customer you were upgrading by broadband to 20mb for free.

You then sent me a letter on Monday letting me know that my broadband price is increasing by 5%.

    WTF?

Lets hope they bump up the customer service area generally and not just to flog the braodband.

The quality and availability of staff when contacting UPC by phone is really terrible.

Was thinking of changing, had dealings with them years ago, looks like nothing has changed! Lucky escape for me.

I suspect their customer service is no worse than any other company I’ve dealt with

Lol- you all should be outside in the fresh air instead of watching tv! I know some of the people working in the call centre in limerick and because of incompetent service staff levels the tele centre staff have a terrible time…. Imagine being abused on the phone all day at work, I do feel sorry for them. But its down to a lack of communication between departments at a higher managerial level. I left them years ago couldn’t put up with it. So be nice, it’s not their fault ask for their superiors instead !!

I agree with Countycork123, the staff are pretty good, but it takes an average of 15 mins to get through to them! Lets hope the 50 new staff will be added to the customer service team.

Can you ensure please that the unlimited plan you advertising are really unlimited as promised and not capped at 250gb! Otherwise please change the ads to limited plans of 250gb up/dn for 100€!!

Unlimited is an advertising phrase and perfectly legal (for the moment) ..terms and conditions state the “fair usage policy” on these……although when the policy stands at 250 and 500gb we can’t really complain can we???

If ye want a laugh, read one of the most amusing letters of complaint ever written – google ‘NTL complaint letter’ and it’s the first result…

UPC are terrible for talking complete bullshit, they did the same to me, they charged my family an extra 5 euro a month more than the price they had been advertising on tv etc. for about 6 months before we realised, then when we asked them why, they couldn’t give an explanation, and to apologise sent us a free HD box…so i guess it worked out in the end..but it is a bit annoying all the same.

When they were NTL they were awful, at least now you can give out on Twitter and they move a bit faster.
