This is how you can undo that embarrassing email you sent*

*provided you do some advance preparation.

IT HAPPENS TO the best of us. You meant to send that joke or comment to someone, but somehow, you end up emailing it to the wrong person, or worse, the person you’re talking about.

It’s very embarrassing, but if you’re a Gmail user, there’s a handy way to prevent you from doing such a thing. Or at the very least, give you time to undo your actions.

When you’re in your email, click on the cog at the top right-hand corner and select settings. Here, you want to select labs and scroll down until you see Undo Send. Enable it and make sure you scroll down to the bottom and click ‘save changes’ otherwise it won’t work.

Once that’s done, go back to settings again but this time, stay in the general tab. Scroll down and you should see the Undo Send option with a timer. Click on the timer and select 30 seconds (the max time allocated).

And you’re done. Next time you reply all to that important email with an embarrassing quip, you have 30 seconds to undo your mistake. After that, you’re on your own.
