ULSTER BANK HAS said that the root cause of the systems issue which has prevented customers from accessing their funds with the bank has now been found and has promised to be fully operational again by Monday.
The bank has been hit by significant technical problems this week which have seen its payments systems experience delays.
This has meant that customers have been unable to receive money due into their accounts such as salaries and social welfare payments.
While ATM withdrawals and internet banking services should still be available customers’ balances are not showing records of any cash lodged to their accounts since Wednesday.
The bank has apologised unreservedly for the problems that have been caused and has said that the issue has now been identified by its parent bank Royal Bank of Scotland in the UK.
“We are currently working to process the backlog of payments and update customer balances and expect to be fully operational by Monday 25th June,” a statement said.
The bank has also said that it will refund custmers who have incurred fees or charges as a result of the issue and has said it will extend opening hours in 80 of its branches this evening until 7pm.
Further to this, the bank will be open over the weekend with 60 branches open tomorrow from 10am until 3pm and 20 if its largest branches open on Sunday from 10am to 1pm.
