A UK COMPANY is recalling certain batches of Tixylix cough and cold medicines for infants because of a manufacturing defect that may result in small pieces of plastic being found in the bottles.

Noravartis Consumer Health UK said the manufacturing defect is with the tamper seal. While no pieces of plastic have been found in the medicines and the potential occurrence of the defect is low, the company is recalling the batches as a precaution, it said.

Consumers are being asked to return these products to the place of purchase for a refund.

“The health and safety of our consumers is always our highest priority,” the company said in a statement.

The medicines being recalled are Tixylix Baby Syrup, Tixilix Blackcurrant Flavour Syrup, Tixylix Chesty Cough and Tixylix Toddler Syrup. More details on the specific batches being recalled can be found here.
