AFTER TESTING ANOTHER 100 products, Tesco said they “were clear of horsemeat”.
“These [tests] follow the 149 results we confirmed last week to the Food Standards Authority were also clear of horse meat,” said Tim J Smith, Tesco Group Technical Director.
The supermarket giant say they will continue to carry out food tests “to ensure this issue never happens again” and they also promise to give customers more information about what is in the food they sell and how it’s produced.
The statement comes after traces of horse DNA was found in Tesco Everyday Value Spaghetti Bolognese, Tesco 4 x Frozen Beef Quarter Pounders (454g) and Tesco Everyday Value 8 x Frozen Beef Burgers (397g). The products have been recalled and removed from shelves.
A list of the food tested can be seen on the Tesco website.
