BIG NAMES FROM the tech world made their way to the capital today for the seventh Dublin Web Summit.
An impressive line-up of speakers took to the stage at the RDS, including Josh Holmes from Microsoft, David Sneddon and Ronan Harris from Google and AOL’s David Shing.
One of the highlights of the summit was this afternoon’s appearance of Tony Wang, general manager of Twitter. Fittingly, TheJournal.ie has compiled a slideshow of some of the tweets coming from day one of the event.
Also included is reaction to the keynote speech by PCH International’s Liam Casey and a surprise appearance from one of Ireland’s most famous musicians.
There will be another packed day tomorrow with appearances from LinkedIn’s Eric Ly and 4Chan’s Chris Poole.
The summit coincided with a Government announcement of a €10 million funding programme for international start-up businesses who are locating in Ireland. Richard Bruton said the scheme will be targeted particularly at the Irish diaspora.
