TWITTER IS REPORTEDLY close to completing a major deal with a online payments company founded by two Limerick brothers.
Stripe, an online payments company founded by John and Patrick Collison in 2010, is nearing a deal to help Twitter accept credit card payments from its users, according to Recode.
The deal is said to be in the final stages and if completed, will allow companies to sell goods directly on the site.
Stripe allows sites to accept credit card payments on websites and mobile apps within a day and can be used by companies of different sizes.
The company supports businesses in the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland and is currently in beta in another eight countries.
It has raised $40 million in investment since it was created from investors like PayPal co-founders Elon Musk and Peter Thiel and venture capitalists firm Sequoia Capital.
One of its founders Patrick Collison is a former winner of the BT Young Scientists competition, having created a new dialect of the LISP family of programming languages. He went on to take the top prize at the European competition.

This is major no wonder they turned down the buyout offer a few months ago. This must have been in the pipeline, fair play to them.

These brothers are super-smart and very business savvy – it’s just a pity that it wasn’t possible to start this company out of Ireland. Apparently they did discuss with Irish banks about getting them signed up on their platform as initial users for proving the concept at early stages but did not get a proactive response…
They better repatriate the proceeds of any deal to Ireland and pay full taxes on it, or the begrudgers will be out in force to trample all over their international achievements, a la U2.

If you are seeing inane drivel then you’ve only yourself to blame. You don’t have to follow those who tweet drivel and even have the option to totally block them should you so wish.
Twitter is what you make it, so don’t blame the tool, blame the user.

Why . Havent even figured out what twitters for (apart from inane drivel) apart from seeing whats trending occasionally. Payments dont think so.

Delivering inane drivel has made some people a lot of money to date; day time tv, FOX; The Herald; etc.
