This pointless app makes spinning in circles competitive (and we had to try it)

It’s all fun and games until someone loses their dinner.

DO YOU LIKE the idea of spinning around in a circle until your legs no longer work and you feel like you’ll never enjoy food again? Well then you should download Spinner.

This seemingly pointless new app brings you back to the good old days when the head rush you got from spinning in a circle was the biggest high you had ever experienced.

All you have to do is convince a friend to download the app and then battle it out to see who can do the most spins while holding their phone out in front of them. Silly noises and funny faces are optional.

We couldn’t resist testing the app out at TheJournal.ie Headquarters this evening, with Nicky Ryan and Thomas Fanning bravely putting themselves forward as spinning guinea pigs.

It started out fairly well, though we would have liked a bit more speed at the beginning.

Poor Thomas almost lost the use of one of his legs about halfway through.

After ten full spins, it was victory for Nicky, who still hasn’t fully recovered.

Though Thomas insisted he should have won, he admitted he hasn’t “had this much fun pointlessly spinning around in twenty years”. So there you go.

If this seems like something you and your friends or colleagues would get a kick out of, you can download Spinner in the App Store.
