A 52-YEAR-OLD serving police officer has been arrested in connection with an investigation into alleged payments to police from journalists.

Scotland Yard said that the woman was arrested today as part of Operation Elveden, which is investigating the alleged corruption.

She is the eighth person – and first police officer – arrested under the investigation.

This operation is being run alongside the Operation Weeting investigation into phone hacking and the Operation Tuleta inquiry into computer hacking. Over a dozen people have been arrested under Operation Weeting and one under Operation Tuleta.
