RYANAIR FLIGHTS TO Rome will be temporarily switched from Rome Ciampino Airport to Rome Fiumicino Airport for a week at the end of September due to maintenance works at the former airport.

Runway maintenance work will see the Ciampino airport closed for nine days from 24 September to 2 October.

Throughout this period, all Ryanair flights to and from Rome will be serviced through Rome Fiumicino Airport.

“Ryanair sincerely apologises to all passengers affected by this nine day closure,” Ryanair communications manager Robin Kiely said in a statement today. “Any information updates will be published on the Ryanair.com website as they become available.”

Passengers arriving at Fiumicino will be able to use bus or taxi services to travel into Rome city centre, the airline says.

  • Ryan Air should lay on courteous buses for their passengers into the city centre!!!! I think that’s the comment of the day….. :)

  • I flew to Rome with Ryanair – the service was excellent and the flights to and fro were on time. I prefer the smaller Ciampino airport to Fiumicino as the security queues at the latter are a nightmare.

This is not a news story. Airport closed for 9 days airlines having to use different airport. Are you doing Ryanairs customer service for them now? Or is the headline, which is the only thing a lot of people read, there to paint Ryanair in a bad light?

the service to rome is fine. this will make no difference. you have to take abus or train anyway regardless of whether you go there with ryanair or aer lingus. of course, ryanair flights to rome are about half the price of aer lingus but that hardly matters does it!

    • @alan wrong i use the rome service on a regular basis and to be honsest gave up on ryanair a long time ago, although ciampino is a liitle nearer the city centre flying into fumicino in my opinion is better and this myth about ryain being cheaper is rubbish,on this route in many cases air lingus beats ryan air hands down on all fronts in both price and service, why would you waste money anyway to be flown by a company whose customer service / care level is nil, incorporate this with rudeness and ignorance and its easy to see why air lingus is the winner here every time, pay peanuts and you get monkeys or get treated like a monkey
