TV3's Red Rock soap opera is looking for some new talent

Got what it takes?

IF YOU’VE EVER wanted to work in TV or film production but didn’t really know where to start, a new training scheme based around TV3′s Red Rock could help.

The Red Rock Training Scheme is seeking up to six placements in a number of production areas such as like location, costume, hair/make-up and post production.

Successful applicants will be working on the second season of the TV3 soap for a period of six weeks with filming expected to begin in October.

The training scheme does not have a formal wage but there is a training allowance for those who take part.

It’s run by Screen Training Ireland in conjunction with TV3 and BAI and the plan is to target graduates as well as others who may have similar skills but have never applied them to film or TV.

Executive producer Ed Guiney says the scheme will give, ‘a new generation of Irish talent an opportunity to cut their teeth on Red Rock’.

Before the six candidates are chosen, the scheme is holding an open day on 19 September in the John Player’s Factory in Dublin, the set of Red Rock.

As well as acting as a way of narrowing down candidates for the Red Rock Training Scheme, the open day will also give others information about working in TV.

There’s space for up to 100 people at the open day and anyone interested in going along must submit a CV and cover letter in advance.

Applications for the open day and the training scheme can be made through Screen Training Ireland once you register.

Did YOU read the article first? “six placements in a number of production areas”

….or were you racing in first in an attempt to make “most thumbs” on Saturday?
