Department: Property tax will not be handed to the bondholders

A report today claimed that Minister Michael Noonan said the money will be used to reduce our deficit rather than to fund local services.

THE DEPARTMENT OF Finance has sought to clarify its position on the property tax after a report today claimed that the entire €175 million fund will be used to pay our bailout debt.

The Irish Daily Mail reported that Finance Minister Michael Noonan “admitted that the money has been kept in the coffers” and would be used to “reduce the deficit rather than to fund local services”.

In a strongly worded statement, the department said that “none of the funds collected through the Local Property Tax have gone towards our bailout debt nor will it be handed to bank bondholders”.

The department said that from 1 January 2014, the minister will pay the tax into the Local Government Fund and will be used to fund local services.

“The government has also announced its intention that 80 per cent of the local property tax will be retained in the local authority area it is raised to fund local services in the area,” it continued.

The department added that the allocation to the Local Government Fund was decided at the start of this year and there is no shortfall in it.

“none of the funds collected through the Local Property Tax have gone towards our bailout debt nor will it be handed to bank bondholders”.

No, they will be used to plug the hole left by the government stealing the taxes we have already paid and handed to bondholders.

Same injustice, same difference, same criminality.

For What Died the Sons of Róisín, was it fame?
For What Died the Sons of Róisín, was it fame?
For what flowed Irelands blood in rivers,
That began when Brian chased the Dane,
And did not cease nor has not ceased,
With the brave sons of ´16,
For what died the sons of Róisín, was it fame?

For What Died the Sons of Róisín, was it greed?
For What Died the Sons of Róisín, was it greed?
Was it greed that drove Wolfe Tone to a paupers death in a cell of cold wet stone?
Will German, French or Dutch inscribe the epitaph of Emmet?
When we have sold enough of Ireland to be but strangers in it.
For What Died the Sons of Róisín, was it greed?

To whom do we owe our allegiance today?
To whom do we owe our allegiance today?
To those brave men who fought and died that Róisín live again with pride?
Her sons at home to work and sing,
Her youth to dance and make her valleys ring,
Or the faceless men who for Mark and Dollar,
Betray her to the highest bidder,
To whom do we owe our allegiance today?

For what suffer our patriots today?
For what suffer our patriots today?
They have a language problem, so they say,
How to write “No Trespass” must grieve their heart full sore,
We got rid of one strange language now we are faced with many, many more,
For what suffer our patriots today?

Their twitter feed today issued the same bull via one tweet. They must think we are the biggest bunch of thickos to ever grace the earth. While in theory the property tax will not be handed directly to bondholders, the gaping hole left by the deficit the repayment creates will be plugged by the tax! The fact that our government insist on enriching those who don’t need it over their own citizens absolutely sickens me! Are you listening those who sung the merits of the EU referendum, wheres that good will from the EU! Yet again the Irish people have been sold a pup and yet again we do nothing! We do deserve what we get really we’re so idiotic!

But they are going to keep doing the same until we as a nation stand up to them. We need tens of thousands of people on the streets of Dublin, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Galway and every other city and town in the country.
We need to send them a message saying enough is enough.
Somehow I think if it hasn’t been done by now it never will.

You get what you vote for.

Same thing will happen next election and the one after etc.,
Socialism for the corporates and big business, capitalism for the poor.
People piss and moan about their taxes going to social welfare yet never a word spoke from the same people in regards their taxes going to corporate social welfare funds to keep the elite few in the money and their failed banks and businesses running.
Nobody comes out and protests, Irish people just keep taking it up the behind.

So, in view of anything to the contrary – yes, yes I do think Irish people are a bunch of thickos.

We had an opportunity to stand up to them by saying a collective NO to paying the tax in the first place. But one by one, the meek irish succumbed and payed like obedient suckers.(As far as i’m concerned they can stick it where the sun dont shine.) Whats become clear is that we are a people who allow ourselves to be pushed around, and look at the fools we are allowing to do it. No one to blame but ourselves!

    Ignoreland,

It appears to have eluded you that Ireland’s ‘expenditure out’ has been increased by billions every year to finance the interest payments on the €100 billion we have been forced to borrow to bailout the delinquent banks. This contributes massively to our budget deficit so please feel free to give yourself a facepalm.
Most countries run a budget deficit most of the time. The deficit only becomes a serious problem when you are unable to finance it as in Ireland’s case. Ordinarily countries finance their deficits by borrowing the money in the market. Or if they control their own currency they can simply create new money by buying their own government’s bonds etc (Quantitative easing as the Yanks call it). Even in the depths of the 1980s recession, Ireland was always able to go to the market to fund the budget deficit until Brian Lenihan bailed out the banks in 2008. The markets then realised Ireland would not be able to cover the massive banking losses and pay them back and so the interest rate they demanded rose to an unaffordable level. This pushed us into the tender Troika embrace who now lend us the money and charge interest so that we can pay the banking debt as well as our budget deficit.
The fixation on the budget deficit and the consequent shredding of our social services and escalating taxation is driven by the political agenda to distract attention from the looting of the country to pay for private banking debt. The tax hikes and cutbacks are the mechanism by which the Irish people are being made to pay for this failure of speculative financial capitalism. Having had €20 billion stolen from us in 2012 to pay off the bondholders, we will hand over another €17 billion in 2013 to cover the gambling losses of financial speculators.
This does not take into account the indirect cost of our zombie banks on the budget deficit over the past 5 years. Credit has been denied to viable businesses resulting in multiple closures throwing thousands of people onto the dole where they draw social welfare instead of contributing income tax in a double blow to the exchequer. The bank collapse and bailout is responsible for a large part of our budget deficit in addition to being the reason that we cannot finance that deficit through the normal channels.

The people WE elected, spent the money WE borrowed, to bail out OUR countries banks, which it it was OUR responsibility to do due diligence on and regulate prior to signing a guarantee which is a legal obligation to pay the debts of.

You signed your name to responsibility for those debts when you wrote Fianna Fáil on the ballot

Ah here lads, leave it oooot, Andrew is juiced a bit confused by the oids, his IQ IS 128, although what he fails to admit to himself is that it is 1+2+8= 11, which is more juvenile than quintile.

    Recession Spancil Hill …verse 17

Thread softly now cried William Yeats
    Your steppin’ upon me dreams
Tax on booze and children’s shoes
And taxin’ our homes, now it seems

Democracy flown, sold out for a loan
    Bankocracy here in its place
300 “K”, gone to find a days pay
    Its a fecin thunderin’ disgrace.

No EU Government has a mandate to tax Family Homes.
It is also fundamentally wrong to levy a tax which does not take account of inability to pay.
It does not meet the Canons of Taxation requirement of a fair and just tax … which must be progressive.

You know you live in a dangerous country when political parties pass laws that give the state more power than the citizens.

Your Local TD (not the Revenue) will take the Local Property Tax from your
    - pension
    - pay
    - bank account
    - family when you die

Remember this when he/she next knocks on your door.
This dangerous law must be repealed.
Debate on how its spent … secondary.

So, what are we all going to do about it? Everyone is suffering, everyone, well except the well off, as usual. So whats the plan of action? An all out strike in every city on the same day, reek havoc, close your bank accounts, don’t get any petrol, cigarettes, alcohol, don’t pay one bill that comes in your door, I am talking about every person in the country, everyone, pop that bubble and pay attention, there is more on the way, so much more and if everyone doesn’t STOP it now then ha, bad bloody luck to everyone of ya.

I see a lot of leftist whinging and hyperbole here, but not much in the way of reality.
Maybe the leftist infection and reality truly are incompatible.
