A NEW CASINO in north Dublin is to create 50 new jobs in Swords.

The casino and private members club is set to open on 18 May in Airside South Quarter, Swords.

The company behind the Penthouse Casino and Card Club is KaiRo International, a gaming and entertainment company involved in running casinos in Tanzania, Malawi and Ghana, as well as an online sports betting business.

KaiRo says that 50 employees will be hired for the Swords operation initially, and a further 20 jobs will be added within six months.

Job applicants for positions at the casino must be over 21 years of age; more information can be found by emailing jobs-penthouse@kairointernational.com.

Commenting on the opening Development Director, John Loudon  of KaiRo International

‘We are delighted to be opening a casino in Ireland,” KaiRo’s development director John Joudon said in a statement. “The casino is built to very high standards and will certainly be setting the standard for future operations in Ireland, both technically and from a well-trained locally sourced workforce.”

  • Interesting, are they a Chinese company? Can’t find much information about their origins online.

  • Dare I ask, how is this Casino allowed, but the one in Two-Mile Borris not?? How can one development be justified and another blindly rejected?? One must ask of those who are responsible for allowing this development, what makes this site better or more appropriate than the one in Tipperary. If links to a certain TD are the reasons for not investing in another county, or blocking a development, surely the government should be questioned on such biased decisions. Should all decisions go the way of the big city, and forget about life and existence outside the pale?? I am not stating that I approve of either development, but the rules should be the same for all developments.

    • Marc, Two-Mile Borris is half way between Dublin and Cork, seconds from the M8 Dublin – Cork Motorway, and is also adjacent to the old N8 Dublin – Cork main road. It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive from Dublin City, and just about the same from Cork City. I live in Stillorgan, if I want to get to Swords, I have to get a 46A to the city center, and another bus to Swords. The first bus takes c.40 min to get to town, the 41 from Abbey St to Swords takes c.50 min, both estimates from dublinbus.ie, which is 1 hour 30 min, give or take (thats not including having to walk from one bus to the other or even having to wait for one to come or depart)

Middle of nowhere, or just an accessible site, Marc, your argument is null and void

    • There’s other casinos nearer Stillorgan for ya. Also Airside is a 5 minute drive from the airport and less than 30 minute drive from the Capital of Ireland.. Good times.

  • Paddy Ryan….Obviously mr. sense of humor stayed home this weekend as you seem to be very attached to 2 mile Doris and fail to understand the concept of tongue in cheek humor….Also missing seems to be your sence of reality as positioning a casino in the middle of nowhere is akin to opening a brothel at the Vatican : silly and at odds with its surroundings…..Your assertion that I am small minded seems indeed funny to me as I have lived in the some of the places that would provide high spending tourists for such a cssino….indeed I bring these tourists to this lovely isle to sample all of the highlights that are offered including, as you mentioned horses and the Rock Of Cashel so before you cast judgement please consider that I may actually know what I am talking about…..oh and while doing have a look about for your sence of humor ….who knows…maybe you misplaced it in 2 mile Doris ?

    • I have good reason to believe Marc Anthony, that opening a brothel in the Vatican might well be a good idea, as the population is vastly male, and some female attention might be well needed. You too seem to be just as attached to a city with no identity as I am to the relics of old Ireland. Marc Anthony, for such a well traveled, highly educated comedian such as yourself, you seem to have forgotten that the most popular casino resort in the world is in fact situated in the heart of the middle of nowhere, so much so, they built it in the middle of a desert….yes, that’s right Marc Anthony, LAS VEGAS….

how does the humble pie taste….I bet its bitter ;)

  • Of course what the usual pro government morons can’t see is the incompetent and floundering government are announcing every cleaning position in a fast food restaurant as a coup in order to create a false positive image of economic growth in order to win support for a yes vote. They’re a bunch of charlatans, and they’ll be exposed sooner or later.

    • Doesn’t say much, they’ve an office in Gibraltar, probably for tax reasons, and they’ve taught some people to sew? Who they are is not revealed, most companies are eager to describe their origins in order to validate their brand, this stinks of a front.

  • Why don’t they go ahead and legalise prostitution and dog fighting while they’re at it, if it’s just about jobs and nothing else matters.

  • Such a great idea.. if the “ordinary” Irish person has anything left of their wages at least we can go spend it here! Idiots! And to have a Chinese company no less… but hey we should be glad that there are fifty jobs going… shame half the country are looking for work

  • Lovely. Create 50 jobs and pump money OUT of Ireland. Parasites.

  • Paddy Ryan……..2mile doris or whatever its called is still the middle of nowhere and potential customers for this casino will also want access to the facilities that a decent sized urban area offers…I have lived in Asia and customers from there are demanding and expect easy access to good shopping…cultural attractions etc..So regarding your bringing the Dublin suburb of Stillorgan in as an example of travel times your example is null and void as last time I checked Stillorgan was part of Dublin….2 mile Doris is not

    • Marc, it is clear that the name of the location is Two-Mile Borris, and your patronising remarks regarding the name of the location do nothing to aid your argument, but indicate that you are a dismissive small minded individual. The location at Two-Mile Borris offered a LOT more than a mere tiny casino which would cater for a small amount of people with only specialised games in one location. Should those customers wish to see cultural attractions, then surly the heart of Ireland is where you may still find remnants of Irish culture, not in bastardised Dublin, which no longer has any identity. The resort in Tipperary also possessed a huge horse racing center which would be a potential venue for prestigious races for both Flat racing and National Hunt. The equine center would also be able to facilitate show jumping and other event. The resort would also boast an 18 hole golf course and scale replica White House Hotel. The resort was also only a few miles from the WORLD FAMOUS Rock of Cashel, with many other cultural and historical sites nearby.

  • I’m not sure the over 21 age requirement is legal…

  • It also infers that they run their on-line sports book business. They don’t . Ladbrokes the high street and on-line bookmaker does it for them. Kairo are simply involved in a white label. So they don’t have any experience mitigating risk and setting prices for an on-line site.

Check the video out on the site provided by Declan ;)
