New iPhone could be gold, scratch resistant and have a fingerprint scanner

Apple is reported to be releasing two new iPhones in September – the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.

A CHINESE WEBSITE is reporting that next month Apple will be announcing the release of not one, but two new iPhones.

The photos, leaked by the website, purporting to be the new iPhone, show that Apple could be breaking from tradition and issuing a new gold coloured phone. Traditionally, Apple iPhones have been either black or white.

High-end and budget

TechCrunch reports that Apple will announce two phones in September, which will include a new high-end model – the updated 5S – and a budget option called the iPhone 5C.

The iPhone 5S will have a dual LED flash designed to improve photos by adding more light to scenes and by making people look more illuminated, reports The Daily Mail, adding that the cheaper iPhone 5C will be scratch resistant, slightly thicker than the 5S and will come in a variety of colours.

Geek.com state there will be an another additional security feature – a fingerprint scanner that will enable you to unlock your phone.

Apple is expected to officially unveil its next-generation handsets at an event on the 10 September.

*That* will be next next great innovation!

I read that Apple were working on a hydrogen battery that will last more than 2 weeks with one charge.

But god only knows then that will be.

Have smartphones really improved greatly since say 2010… Not really… Bigger brighter screens maybe that are hampered by ever further demishing battery performance.. What’s the point owning an s4 or iphone5 if you have to turn off brightness and every sync feature to save power… I’m typing this on a six year old htc… Does me grand. Phone companies are lazy and too busy milking the market with bare minimum updates to phones that all look and do the same thing! Now who will buy a lung off me so I can get this new iphone…!

The rotten fruit company have backed themselves into a corner when it comes to the design of phones. They must continue to re-use these patents.

The way you say it you almost sound like you know what you’re talking about.

You do realise iOS7 is basically iOS6 reskinned and a few new features? Nothing more – even Apple have said it. If you’re expecting it to be a “game changer” you’ll be sadly disappointed.

What mature, informative comments the majority of you have given. I look forward to when you’ve learned to research facts instead of making up half-assed opinions and parroting out the same bullshit as other ill-informed idiots, while comparing the sizes of your electronic manhood-proxies.

Do you opinionated rewriters of tech history inhabit some bizarre parallel universe where manufacturers are expected to create incredible leaps every six months? I hate to break it to you, buckos, but they never have.

Take the aforementioned Apple, for example. It launched the iMac in 1997, the iPod in 2001, the iPhone in 2007, and the iPad in 2010. In between, the company, like their competitors, made iterative updates to their products. That’s how Apple does it. They don’t release a completely new product category every year. It takes time to create something that defines/redefines a market.

Check the timeline for Microsoft Windows releases. Same story.

Think, people. Research. Understand what the hell you’re talking about before you post, so you can at least appear intelligent to those that don’t know you personally.

@DublinLad For fecks sake…how can something maintain being “innovative” Every Single Year. People’s expectations are raised *way* too high.

No one calls Android out for lack of innovation when they release a multitude of phones every year with minor improvements (and many unnecessary features), but Apple are expected to innovate with every new release.

You don’t expect car manufacturers to innovate with every new car do you? No…their new cars will have new added features (whether it was CD back in the day, Bluetooth now, better steering, better comfort etc) but the car will still do the same thing it always did: Get you from A to B.

The iPhone still does what it always does, but with each new version there will be added features and improvements. But to expect “innovation” for every new model is unrealistic and only going to cause disappointment.

As we know it today Apple revolutionised mobile telephones to make them a smartphone and I don’t mean technically wholly in term of inventions etc but also I mean user experience. I wonder how many of those F700′s were sold. Also what the user experience was like. It had a slide out keyboard so I’m assuming no on screen keyboard. The iphone screen layout more accurately reflects current smartphones than the Samsung.

Have a look at this clip on youtube, it’s a disaster zone compared to the iphone

Yer all wrong, palm were way ahead of the game releasing the first true smartphone in USA in 2001

Palm were churning out smart phones back as far as 2001 with touch screens. before that IBM back in 1992 started to use technology that would be come familiar with current smart phones, a prototype called Simon Personal Communicator. which used fax & emails through a touch screen. Simon included many applications including an address book, calendar, appointment scheduler, calculator, world time clock, games, electronic note pad, handwritten annotations and standard and predictive touchscreen keyboards.

The first use of the term smartphone was by Ericsson in 1997

“In early 2001, Palm, Inc. introduced the Kyocera 6035, the first smartphone in the United States. This device combined a PDA with a mobile phone and operated on the Verizon Wireless network. It also supported limited web browsing”

And when you put a PDA together with a phone like palm were doing in 2005 and their Treo versions you get a ???????????

Smartphone. (just in case you weren’t sure.) I just posted that pic to show you the square design of apple was out there way before

The reason for there stylus was the screens were a lot smaller than today’s screens. You could still use them with your finger but were a bit more clumsy when using the onscreen keys. But they still packed a load of apps that you would be familiar with today. Their battery’s also used to last for a couple of days, as the screens were not that power hungry.

All this aside all the technology, software, apps, ideas and designs were there before apple released its first iphone.

look again Justin the tx is also rectangular.. ( and the age old dispute continues) LOL

If you watch this vid you will see that while the TX has a stylus it was not a requirement to use it. so it was a true touchscreen with onscreen keyboard.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ9mLMqzQiw

And I’m not trying to say the tx is a smartphone, just that smartphones are PDA’s, that’s what they were born from, the combining of the 2 technologys. (as I pointed out Palm were already producing PDA’s and smartphones before apple). Apple would have seen this when they invented their version of it.

I think you are taking me all wrong on this. I’m just pointing out that what apple produced was based on then current designs, technology, and software. (They were actually quite late coming to the smartphone market, they had competition with Sony, Motorola, and Palm, They just had the money to throw at it to bring it to the masses. followed by throwing more money at solicitors to sue anyone who they though might gain some of that market share.

It’s interesting Steve Wozniak the co-founder of Apple wrote a review of the upcoming Jobs movie in which he took a few sly digs at Steve. Mind you he does big himself up a bit also.

    http://gizmodo.com/jobs-reviewed-by-steve-wozniak-1153771108

“I’m grateful to Steve for his excellence in the i-era, and his contribution to my own life of enjoying great products, but this movie portrays him having had those skills in earlier times.”

A new colour and a new way to unlock your phone. Apple really are out of ideas. The sad thing is that millions will fork over their entire months disposable income for this. What’s even sadder is that because it needs a case, nobody will even know you have one (or that it’s gold) unless you tell people, like a douche.

As I said already, The mass brainwashing skills of Apple’s marketing team are pretty impressive.

Apple is junk? Have you ever used an iPhone? They use good materials and the build quality is great. As good as any available. iOS is far more user friendly than android. I own 1 Apple product, an iPhone 3GS which I got free as part of a bill pay upgrade with 3. It’s the best phone I’ve ever used, it has changed the way I surf, email, play games, read books, listen to music, create music, draw and interact with other technologies. I’m sure another phone might tick all these boxes too but I doubt it would be as clever and intuitive. I can’t afford to upgrade to the latest iphone or tablet so maybe my view is limited but this phone works for me however dated some of you think it is b

Apple have been drip feeding us features over the past number of years, and we still suck it up. The good ole Nokia’s had a version of FaceTime nearly 10 years ago, and Apple only released it 2 years ago or so (and wifi only at that too). Photo Stream is a disappointment as it doesn’t save your photos in the cloud (only some of them) and you can view them online yet. All of this stuff isn’t new, it’s just apple drop feeding us as usual
