Music site urges users to change password in latest breach - has yours been leaked?

There’s now a way to check if your LinkedIn or eHarmony passwords were among those hacked, while Last.fm is the latest site with security problems.

THE MUSIC WEBSITE Last.fm has issued a warning to users to change their passwords after a suspected leak of information.

A tweet yesterday indicated that the site was “investigating a security issue” and in a posting on the site the leak was linked to other recent information breaches on other sites, notably LinkedIn and eHarmony.
Last.fm said that as a precautionary measure it was asking all users to change their passwords immediately. It’s also recommending that the same password is not used across different sites.

Earlier this week it was revealed that the data of millions of LinkedIn users was breached by a Russian hacker, followed by dating site eHarmony. Around 8 million passwords in total were posted in their hashed form.

The site LastPass.com is offering users an opportunity to check if their LinkedIn or eHarmony passwords were among the ones hacked. The site assures that it is sending hashed versions of passwords to its servers, and says that the hash will not be stored or logged. It’s also strongly advising that all LinkedIn passwords should be changed.
