Morning Ireland's Áine Lawlor set for 2012 return

Lawlor’s colleague said that she plans to return to the show on a regular basis by the end of this year.

BROADCASTER ÁINE LAWLOR hopes to return to her regular slot on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland by the end of this year, according to her colleague Cathal Mac Coille.

Lawlor has presented a new special online-only edition of the programme which is available from today and which focuses on Irish people living abroad.

She had left Morning Ireland in October 2011 for medical treatment after being diagnosed with cancer.

Speaking on this morning’s regular edition of Morning Ireland, Mac Coille said Lawlor was still in treatment but was recovering and looks forward to returning to the show on a regular basis by the end of this year.

According to the latest JNLR figures, Morning Ireland was the most-listened to radio show in the country over the past year, with a listenership of 446,000.
