MICROSOFT WAS RUMOURED to be abandoning both its feature phones and Nokia X Android smartphones last month, but instead, it’s announced one of its cheapest feature phone which costs €19.
The Nokia 130 bills itself as a portable video and music player and is very much a device that keeps things simple and to the point.
The feature phone doesn’t have a data connection, meaning it can’t connect to any online services, but it comes equipped with an FM radio, video player and MP3 player and comes in a Dual SIM version – designed to hold your original SIM card and another one used for travelling.
According to Microsoft, the phone has a standby time of 36 days and 26 days for single and dual SIM card versions respectively, and claims 13 hours of talk time for both versions.
The phone is very much geared towards developing markets, looking at places like Africa, and the Middle East, and those buying phones for the first time. Although if you wanted to get one for over here, it’s not like you will be breaking the bank.

Dont ever think that apple will produce a cheap phone, that rumour circulates each time a new iphone is due and its never true. Apple dont do cheap, why should they, they sell more than enough without needing to go downmarket

A small company called Bic came up with the idea of a cheap plastic disposable pen and the world of parker pens and ink-wells and quills laughed at them.
Bic pens are the best. I love them. I’d take one over any other pen any day.
Wish I could have one of these and a decent smartphone both under the one number and contract so battery constantly dying would just mean I lose online stuff but still have a phone.
You could just not use the internet so much?
If you have a removable battery just buy a spare and swap it out when the first one dies during the day…
Yup. Without getting into an OS scrap, this is my main deciding factor when buying a phone.
3 batteries and an external charger mean I can run the note 3 on full power, full brightness and all the rest for 24 hour always on access.
Considering how much I use my phone ow for work, this is vital. I’ve converted the whole house to a multi battery lifestyle now.

Nokia have consistently had feature phones like this on the market for the last 5 years. this isn’t noteworthy

Samsung have a basic no frills phone 19.99 in Vodafone! It’s brilliant for the parents and better still doesn’t need charging that often!! Ditto it’s weight – it’s feather light and seems to bounce when dropped… Bought the mammy one – she loves it.
Great option for kids who need to communicate with parents by text or phone but nothing else. The Firefly phone was supposed to do that but we tried that option and it lasted 6 months until the SIM stopped working.
