Microsoft looking to hire 95 people in Ireland

Four other companies have also released jobs announcements this morning.

IT HAS BEEN a successful morning on the jobs front with one major announcement from a multinational and four smaller but significant expansions by other firms.

Microsoft is currently recruiting for 95 new staff at its Dublin office. The positions include 30 new development roles in its European Development Centre and 35 graduate roles across the entire business.

It is also looking for people to fill a range of professional services roles in its Europe Middle East & Africa Operations Centre, as well as its sales and marketing organisations.

Meanwhile, marketing firm Brandtone says it will create 29 jobs as it invests more than €2 million in a research and development programme.

FCS Global will recruit 10 people as part of its expansion of training, engineering and US operations in Roscommon.

The Wright Bar Group has also announced two new businesses in Swords and the Airside Retail Park.

The Graduate roles are good news, the other roles will most likely be filled from outside Ireland. Anyone qualified to work in skilled IT in this country is either already employed or has emigrated, I work for a multinational and right now we import about 60% of our skilled workers due to not been able to find staff in Ireland.

Microsoft made about 300 – 400 fulltime workers redundant in the least few years many unnecessarily. They were mainly older and more expensive workers, and now some are being replaced by entry level/grad types. This is all spin and Microsoft as a company lacks integrity. Young grads should seek employment somewhere else rather than get poisoned by the Microsoft toxic culture.

What’s wrong with that its a business not a bloody charity. The only concern for that company is to make as much money as possible for shareholders. What plant do some of ye people live on. It’s called human resources for a reason it’s a resource to be used for as long as it makes you a good return when it doesn’t you get rid of it. I mean that’s just common sense

I doubt cost had anything to do with it, a senior developer can work about 4x as fast as a graduate, they’re worth the added expense, many times over.

We also live in a society- so do the people who make these decisions at microsoft, so when companies do things like this they’re really soiling society.
I am fully aware they are a business trying to make money but ethics and loyalty are important too.

In the short term yes. But graduates in two to three years will code a lot faster as they gain experience. Coding requires nothing more than practice. After 5 years two grads will be worth the one old timer.
