Nothing new. Irish media was under control of O’ Reilly family for years. Indo, Herald, Evening Press closing, “loans” to Tribune. The list goes on. I cannot remember any article criticising SIR Tony O’ Reilly.

Couldn’t agree more Frank. You can have all the money in the world but you can’t buy a reputation and I for one support the tribunal’s findings wholeheartedly and no amount of solicitors letters or attempted gagging orders will change that. I would rather be penniless and be able to walk down the street with my head held high and not to have someone jibing me about my integrity. I take my hat off to Vincent Browne for not wilting to the threatening letters.
Should be a few trolls on shortly with bogus accounts doing a bit of damage limitation.

I have no beef with O’Brien, but this decision is unfortunate and unbecoming. It diminishes O’Brien and diminishes the Independent.

I didn’t see any recruitment ads placed for any of the roles ! If people can’t apply for the roles, how can they truly say that they got the best people possible ?

how do you know their defamatory if you dont get to see them? he who has not sinned. innocent until proven guilty. if a remark was defamatory it would be shot down fairly quickly.
