MINISTER FOR JOBS, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton today announced the creation of 45 jobs in online discount retailers Overstock.com in Sligo.
The company, which is based in Utah and employed over 1,300 people worldwide, will create a software development team in Sligo. The retailer sells a range of products online including furniture, rugs, bedding, electronics, clothing and cars.
The investment by the company in Ireland is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.
Making the announcement today, Bruton said it is “great news for the north-west, and is a significant endorsement of both Sligo and Ireland in delivering the needs of multinational companies”.
Steve Tryon of Overstock.com said that the Irish development team will be “involved centrally in many existing activities and will lead on several new and initiatives associated with our International expansion”.
