The jobs are always months or years down the road,never now you’d wonder do they ever really happen

I can tell you from first hand experience that these jobs are happening. Now. Not next year.

I had to Google “Yahoo” to find out what it was, turns out it used to be some sort of primitive search engine from the early days of t’internet!

Who are you to speak for the ‘Irish Citizens’?? I don’t remember voting for you??? So you speak for yourself and just leave it at that… And maybe you should try and create a job or two of your own rather than whinging on here

In this country we get to elect our Government and in case you have forgotten or suffer from one of the thousands of brain disorders may I remind you that the Taoiseach does not have to vacate his position until five years after his appointment . May I further point out that attempting to speak on behalf of the Irish people from some sweaty little back room is indicative of a further range of disorders that need treatment.

I apologise for including you in my letter to Enda.

In future I will sign it off “on behalf of the fair minded Irish citizens”. I hope this meets with you approval as this is designed to exclude the intellectually challenged mé féiners like yourselves.

Also Peter on a point of clarity. By your own admission you must be one of Enda’s TD, because I as a normal citizen did not actually get a vote to elect our Government, and this is why not.
1. Some of the inhabitants of hell, (Mayo, Connaught), voted Enda as a TD.2.
2. As leader of FG he made a political deal with the Labour party to RIG the voting in Dáil Éireann so that between them they would form the next Government.
3. Then the RIGGED majority of the 166 elected members of Dáil Éireann voted to make him Taoiseach, and not the normal people of this great country.

You are also incorrect in saying “the Taoiseach does not have to vacate his position until five years after his appointment”. Dáil Éireann has the power to remove the Taoiseach at any time by a simple majority vote. So saying what you did proves how misinformed and intellectually challenged Enda’s supporters are.

Correction Mr. dakly , the Government can be removed at any time under the constitution ! Just clarifying !

I would refer you to Mr. gilmore for a full understanding of the word “or” as in; labour “or ” Frankfurt
Finally just to let you in on a little secret about Connaught; we send the fooleens up to Dublin to expose what is really going on, safe in the knowledge that they will make such a dog’s dinner of running the country that our true enemies are exposed ; it’s an ancient Irish thing that further backs up Mr. Cromwell’s assertion that Connaught is indeed Heaven, as indeed does the fact that we put the fooleens into politics ! Imagine the mess Connaught would be in if we kept Enda, Mr. Rabbitte, Mr. Keaveny, Mr. O’Cuiv, Finian Mcgrath, Mary white O’connor, Fidelma Healy Eames, Mr. Ring , Mr. Calleary , Mr Naughten and a whole host of others ;

It’s not pathetic at all. Those yahoo jobs were to be announced in January but haven’t been until now…or I mean until Kenny ‘announces’ them later today.

Also where do you see the insult in being called a sly pup? Pups are lovely creatures and being sly is a great trait to have, just ask Bertie Ahern.

Apparently the companies wanted to announce these jobs months ago, but they were asked to hold off and allow a jumped up overpaid little Irish man make the announcement to make him look good!

Aww, I though he’d found some sort of job factory where he could just order up more jobs.

Declan, the news said announcements were delayed and FYI Kenny is not the head of state, he is the head of Government, there is a difference, we do have a President!

Lets not be pedantic. You knew exactly what i meant! My issue with your statement is that you assume that the companies did not want Enda K present to announce the jobs!! In my experience Transglobal companies love this type of event and the sniff of a Senior Goverment official being present would prompt a delay.

Could you provide us some sort of proof to back up this claim that these jobs are fake.

Yahoo! jobs are already on offer – 50 open positions at the moment, with more to follow to end of 2013. Its a good news story, can we just not leave it at that.

I worked for X company that announced 100 jobs 70 were filled internally while 30 were by new staff. They never say 300 jobs created for new staff.

With the kind of jobs these are, you’re only going to find a sufficient pool of people in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway (and we do see some announcements in the latter two). The first two criteria for where the likes of Yahoo and McAfee will set up will be third-level institutions and accessibility (i.e. near an airport with decent services).

But there will be slower benefits to the rest of the country. People who fill these jobs will have more money to spend and much of that will go on Irish services and products. For the 260 jobs that are filled here, you can probably look at another 150 being created because of them in retail and services.Those jobs won’t just be in Dublin and Cork.

We have a super road network now linking cities to all towns and villages across Ireland

Just as well. The hundred thousand applicants for the 260 jobs will need them just to get to the interview.

Sustainable jobs in sustainable industries would be nice. Can he bring back Waterford? Can we upgrade transportation or communications? Is 1.9mb/s on Eircom fast enough for a Yahoo customer?

I work for a transglobal company that has been in Ireland since 1982!!! Thats pretty sustainable. Propping up industries that show no signs of growth or development is not sustainable…Its just jobs for the boys in the old fashioned FF way and is the primary reason we have armies of adminstrators in the public sector… Lobbed in becasue the house was a strong FF house…

So can your company step up and pay some more taxes like the rest of us? Does it pay any taxes in Ireland at all?

The government can’t make companies locate to any particular area. They can create incentives but at the end of the day they go where it suits them best.

You’re wrong about Glenamucklagh , I have it on good authority that it’s going to get the carpark for the council’s roadsweeper , unfortunately the jobs are only in the construction phase as one of the ballyhiggert boys had to get the job of checking it for diesel or he was going to vote for Paddy Fixit in the next election !
Still two days cutting back the briars in the council’s parking area is welcome news for all glen boys everywhere !

Most multinationals would want to set up in areas where they have access to good airports, a population base, high graduate output, good facilities, infrastructure and a solid business network. Dublin, Cork, and Galway are the most obvious choices in that sense. Unfortunately it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy — business attracts business, but the opposite also applies. It’s not that anybody is deliberately shunning Limerick.

Why would Galway be a more obvious choice than Limerick?

Exactly dexter. This government has 3 jewels in the crown and limerick and Waterford definitely aren’t 2 of those

A few plain ould ordinary jobs would be nice too Inda. The vast majority of our unemployed are, unfortunately, not computer whizz kids.

Maybe that is something they could personal responsibility for an remedy!!
