BRITISH COMEDIAN Jimmy Carr has apologised for a “terrible error of judgement” over his involvement in a tax avoidance scheme.
Carr had been protecting £3.3 million annually by channelling funds through a Jersey-based company called K2, which returned the money in the form of loans, thereby avoiding the payment of income tax.
The scheme is legal.
Carr has been lambasted for his involvement in the scheme – with Prime Minister David Cameron describing his actions as “morally wrong” on Wednesday, reports the Guardian.
Tweeting about the matter earlier today, Carr said he was no longer involved in the scheme and vowed to conduct his financial affairs “more responsibly” in the future.
