Changes announced at the Irish Daily Mail

Editor-in-chief of Associated Newspapers Ireland Eric Bailey will step down in January next year.

ASSOCIATED NEWSPAPERS IRELAND has announced a number of significant changes at management level following the resignation of editor-in-chief Eric Bailey.

The 58-year-old plans to step down from the top job in January 2013 but will remain on as a consultant editor and non-executive director on the firm’s board.

The current editor of the Irish Mail on Sunday, Sebastian Hamilton, has been named as the new editor of the Irish Daily Mail, trading places with Conor O’Donnell.

O’Donnell will move across to the weekend publication, becoming editor of the Irish Mail on Sunday.

Latest circulation figures for the Irish Daily Mail show that it enjoys a 10 per cent share of the market.

“I could not have wished for a better way to end my full-time career,” commented Bailey. “I am delighted that I will still be involved in the success of our newspapers, and that we have been able to make promotions from inside the company.”
