INTEL IS INVESTING over €3.5 billion in its Kildare site with 5,000 construction workers hired for the project.
This is the largest private investment in the history of the Irish State.
The company is investing in this project to prepare its Leixlip site for the next wave of technology.
Since Intel located to Ireland in 1989, it has hired over 5,200 people in its companies across Kildare, Shannon, Belfast and Cork.
The Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton and IDA Ireland welcomed Intel’s significant contribution to the Irish economy.
Bruton said, “It was a major win 25 years ago when the company first decided to locate operations here and it has made a massive contribution to the Irish economy in the years since then”.
IDA Ireland Chief Executive Barry O’Leary said,
The future is bright for the company and the facility, and it’s in a strong position to take on future capacity in the years ahead, helping to underpin the existing operations, which employ 4,500 people.
