In pictures: What sold better or worse last month?

Overall, the volume of retails sales dropped 0.3 per cent in February.

THE LATEST RETAIL figures from the Central Statistics Office have shown a drop in the volume of retail sales last month.

The volume of sales in January and February of this year have both been down on last year’s figures: January was down 0.8 per cent in comparison with January 2011, while last month saw a 1.9 per cent drop on February 2011.

Last month’s sales volume was 0.3 per cent down on the previous month, or down 1 per cent if motor sales are excluded.

Excluding motor sales, the annual decrease in retail volume was 2.1 per cent between February 2011 and 2012.

Meanwhile, the value of retail sales dropped 0.1 per cent between January and February, though it dropped 1.8 per cent over the year between February 2011 and February 2012.
