60 new jobs on the way at company that fights identity theft

The company hiring them is IDT911.

A COMPANY SPECIALISING in identity theft and data risk management is set to hire new staff in Ireland.

IDT911 said today that it intends to hire an additional 60 new staff during the next five years, after deciding to set up its European base in Ireland.

Sean Daly, IDT911 COO, said: “The decision to locate in Galway was made very easy by the great level of support we have received from the IDA and Minister [Richard] Bruton’s department.

Galway has a dynamic business culture that will enable us to launch IDT911 into the European market and scale upwards during the next five years. As leaders in the world of data protection and identity management, the Irish environment is an ideal fit to recruit excellent talent with the expertise we will need moving forward.

What does IDT911 do?

IDT911 believes its skills are needed here – it said that more than half of Irish businesses suffered a data breach last year, according to the latest ICS National Data Protection Survey.

The company supplies preventative and resolution products. It was set up in Arizona in 2003 and has 660 client partners worldwide.

Richard Bruton, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, described the announcement as “a great boost for the West of Ireland”.

Martin Shanahan, CEO of IDA Ireland, noted that IDT911 is joining a growing base of cyber security companies already located in Ireland.

“A job announcement in Galway is likely to have a beneficial effect for the whole of the western region,” he said. “The company’s Galway office will have responsibility for delivering IDT911’s business services in the European market.”

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Yep, and at twelve jobs a year we’ll have replaced the Cadbury jobs in only twenty years and the construction industry jobs in only twenty thousand years.

    “12 is greater than zero.”

Not when you have to import 12 foreign nationals to fill the positions.

Yes but he managed to make a comment on it , probably just because he’s delighted instead of trying to get a get a bit of political publicity for himself .
Enda was seen sprinting for the entrance clutching a shovel because he heard of a sod turning opportunity .

Nobody’s found replacement jobs for all the unemployed penny-farthing bicycle assemblers yet, either. Maybe it’s time to meet the IDA halfway and re-skill a little.

Jobs that will be imported because we don’t have enough IT skilled people.

But the IDA get to do a little victory dance and the gov. can pretend they did something worthwhile.

Job losses = governments fault. Job gains = government fault. You can’t win with some people. If you don’t have the skills, get up off your ass and get them. I hate people moaning and looking to government to hold their hand on everything.

    Wow, what a stupid argument.

How does advising one person to “get the skills” increase the number of places in computer science courses?

How does it change the courses to deliver relevant skills that are relevant to industry instead of heavily academic focused content?

How does it solve the massive skilled labour shortage that has indigenous Irish firms crucified right now?

And BTW, I do have the skills and I do very well for myself, thank you.

I am one of the many foreign nationals brought in to fill the gap. 50% of the people working in the company I work for are not Irish. 75% of Google’s workforce is not Irish. What benefit is it to the country to continue creating these jobs without any sustainable plan to increase the skilled Irish workforce?
