Government hopes new website will lessen red tape burden

BusinessRegulation.ie will be launched by Minister Richard Bruton this morning.

THE GOVERNMENT HAS today launched a new website aimed at reducing the red tape businesses have to cut through to ensure they comply with various regulatory requirements.

The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton advised that BusinessRegulation.ie brings together information on regulations imposed by more than 30 different Government bodies. It also shows how to comply with them.

The website was developed to address a clear need – identified by businesses themselves - for a single source of information on regulatory requirements.

According to Bruton’s department, the portal “reduces the need to trawl through multiple pages on different websites in search of the right information”.

The website was one of the commitments made in the Action Plan for Jobs 2012 and is just one of a number of measures promised to reduce the burden of red tape on business.

Bruton said he is convinced that the site will make compliance easier for small businesses.

The site is split into three main sections: information for start-ups; key regulations for all businesses and sector-specific regulation.
