The Nexus 6 Google

Here's how much Google's new Nexus devices will cost you

Let’s hope you have some deep pockets if you want the Nexus 6.

(Updated: 9:33am 17/10/14)

LAST NIGHT, GOOGLE announced the latest additions to its Nexus range, which included a 6-inch phablet and 9-inch tablet.

Yet the big questions about the Nexus 6 and 9 was how much they would cost and when they would arrive over here.

The good news is both will be arriving here next month. The Nexus 9 tablet will be available for pre-order on Google Play tomorrow and will go on sale on 3 November.

No specific date has been given for the Nexus 6, but it will also be released sometime in November.

As for cost, the Nexus 9 will start at €399 for the 16GB version while those who want the 32GB version will have to pay either €489. A 32GB version with 4G capabilities will also be available and will cost €569.

As for the Nexus 6, the 32GB model will cost €649 while the 64GB version will cost €699. Unlike the Nexus 5, there won’t be a 16GB model.

Alongside the new devices, Google also announced the Nexus Player, its set-top box designed to rival the likes of Apple TV.

Currently, there’s no word as to whether it will arrive in Ireland or not, but a Google spokesperson said that it plans to make the device “more widely available.

Can I ask where you’re pulling your European pricing from? The Web sites I’ve looked at this morning are suggesting a price of €569 for the 32GB Nexus 6. Also, €399 for the 16GB Nexus 9. These are “leaked” prices as there aren’t any official figures as far as I know… ?

That would be great, if correct. I paid €436 for my Nexus 5, another €133 on top of that wouldn’t be too painful.

Is that €436 for the 32GB version + postage? I think my 16GB one cost me €350 at launch. I don’t think I can justify the cost of the Nexus 6, not when there are phones spec’d as good as the OnePlus One selling for $300.

Thanks Quinton. My initial thoughts were the same (we seem to never catch a break on $ -> € conversion) but I was hoping you were wrong! €650 means I’ll be abandoning the Nexus line, sadly.

“we seem to never catch a break on $ -> € conversion”

Given the advertised US price doesn’t include sales tax, and the Irish advertised price includes 23% VAT, the phone isn’t far off being a direct $->€ conversion pre-tax.

I’m a big nexus and Android fan but they’ve got this wrong on 2 counts firstly the actual phone while it is brilliant is just too big for most people, 5.5 inches is the maximum, plus the cost, nexus sold quite well because of its aggressive pricing and now they’ve jacked it up a good bit many won’t be impressed.

I would have purchased it myself had it been smaller and cheaper but I’ve chosen a one plus one instead, you can’t go wrong at that price.

I have one since last month and zero yellow tinting (even though they say it was a design feature). Excellent phone, super fast, latest android and great camera with 64GB for half the price of a nexus 6.

Do you have the 2013 model? I have one from last November and I have no complaints about it, though the power connection could be a little better I agree. I think for a tablet, micro USB ports just don’t cut it anymore.

I have the very first Nexus 7, same issues as Rob Ben, dodgy micro USB and takes a while to power up, grand tablet besides those two issues, though.
