I agree, videos like this are a useful education tool. It can be difficult enough to try to explain abstract things like “the cloud” to people who don’t have a tech background, when you say you don’t store files on servers or computers locally but rather they are stored on remote servers, possibly in data centers such as this one, and then show them it just makes it easier to understand.

Probably if/when a quantum computer is possible/feasible. At the moment we are limited by the size of atoms (transistors at the moment are approaching the width of just a few atoms and the smaller they get the more susceptible they are to ‘leakage’ where electrons spill over to another pipe and also more susceptible to bit flips due to SEU’s [Single Event Upset's] that are caused by cosmic radiation).

We are also limited by the speed of electric wave propagation (the signals in your CPU right now are moving at almost the speed of light, and the speed of light cannot be exceeded). That’s why the GHz race in CPU stopped and the solution for more power is to add more cores for multithreading.

By the mid 2020’s Silicon will have reached its maximun capacity. Graphene is the way forward. Anyone who can find a way of mass producing graphene will be richer beyond their wildest dreams.

I found the cooling process they use pretty interesting. I heard a rumour that the Irish servers are being moved to Iceland for this purpose. Also funny to think that first smaller room they show is a google equivalent to your router at home.

The data centre being moved that is. Not the entire HQ just the servers
