Gardaí recommend prosecutions in Anglo investigation

Enda Kenny says that gardaí recommend under half a dozen people should be prosecuted after investigation into financial misdealings.

ENDA KENNY HAS SAID he understands that gardaí have recommended that fewer than half a dozen people face prosecution following their investigation into alleged financial irregularities at Anglo Irish Bank, RTÉ reports.

The Fine Gael leader said the files prepared for the DPP so far have run to several hundred pages.

Early last month, the Commercial Court heard that files arising from the criminal investigation into Anglo would be sent to the DPP before the end of the year, and more files are expected to be sent forward early next year.

The Director of Corporate Enforcement had sought – and was granted – a six-month extension to the investigation last month.

Over 400 hundred statements had been taken by the end of October, with some running for 150 typed pages.
