Do you know what apps have access to your Facebook info? You might want to check

The company has revamped its app settings page, allowing users to see what apps they’re signed in to with Facebook and what info they have access to.

IF YOU USE Facebook to log into most apps and services, you may want to pay a visit to the site’s apps setting page.

Chances are if you haven’t already visited this page before, you will be surprised at how many apps already have access to your account info.

Before today, this page was just a long list, which made it a chore to remove or check apps, but now the page has been revamped, making it a little easier to check permissions and remove unwanted apps.

As well as giving you an overview of all the apps you’ve signed in to, clicking on any of them will show you all the info the app has permission to access.

Facebook apps Facebook Facebook

At the very least, you will just use this to get rid of apps you don’t use, or restrict access to certain elements like posting on your activity feed on your behalf.

App personalisation Facebook Facebook

It’s very easy to forget about the majority of apps you’ve signed into months ago and stopped using, but still have access to your profile info.

Also, it will remind you that even when you’ve deleted apps, many of them will still have access to profile info so it’s best to review it when you have some free time (and check the rest of your security settings while you’re at it).

Gave up Facebook a few years back, was addicted, was checking it before I got out of bed. It was a great decision. Not knowing every detail of people’s lives has its advantages. Life without Facebook takes some adjusting, especially if, like me you’re checking it every few minutes. But it’s worth it. The bullshit levels on Farcebook are just too high.

I’m thinking about closing my facebook account. It has been reduced a tireless stream of boring photos, peer pressure to support various campaigns and people tagging me in photos I was not aware even existed.

I get your point, but I think people misuse Facebook. If you’re connected with random acquaintances, distant relatives and old school/college friends you haven’t seen in a decade, then you’re going to be inundated with content that’s irrelevant to you.

Why not just prune your friends list down to your closest friends and family? That way you might have a more positive experience, and you’ll only hear from people you care about.

Unfollow every single person on your friends list. Then you won’t see any of the crap they post unless they tag you.

Then “like” pages that actually interest you. Like movies, games, books, funny videos etc. Then your Facebook page only contains things you like and you never have to see another status about somebody’s ugly kid who learned how to not sh*t themselves.

    Or just quit it.

I’d have to agree with you Eel Knack.

I guess i am old. But every weekend my neighbour “treats” us, her facebook friends, to numerous pics of her and “the most wonderful husband in the world” from every angle before they head out on the town.

I cant decide whether i am a drip or if their self importance is a bit too much.

As i said.. I guess i am old

The Doctor: Do you understand the article at all. What you said is exactly what you should want to get rid off instead. In doing what you just said, you will be allowing access to your profile for being a member of those pages Like this-(thejournal).

I quit FB years ago. I was responding to the comments regarding annoying friends rather than the article itself.

I’m well aware of Internet privacy. This anonymous twitter handle and my gaming profiles are my only online accounts.

It’s funny that people don’t try to understand the article first before posting a comment. It talks about apps and pages like thejournal not your friends but here you are posting a comment giving thejournal your permission to access your profile yet you are attacking your friends instead.

I think it’s hilarious how people get so uptight about all this personal information and apps infiltrating your life. Are you all really that interesting? I know I’m not! You don’t like Facebook, don’t use it. Simple.
