Facebook is giving its mobile search tool a much needed improvement

Facebook users on mobile will be able to search for old posts using keywords instead of having to find them manually.

FINDING OLD POSTS on Facebook could become easier as the service is developing a feature which would allow users to find them via keywords.

Currently, you would have to guess what year and month something was posted and even then, it requires you to trawl through the page to find it, but the new search feature, which designed for mobile devices, will allow you to use keywords to find them faster, reports Bloomberg.

The idea is that users will be able to type ‘birthday party john smith” and be presented with relevant posts about that friend and event.

The type of posts that can be found must already be made available to you or posted publicly. Private posts will not appear in results.

For now, the feature is only available to a few users, but will be rolled out to mobile devices alongside Graph Search.

Back at the beginning of 2013, Facebook launched Graph Search, its attempt to solve search problems on its site with a context driven search engine. Users could ask questions like ‘coffee shops in Dublin’ and be presented with relevant results, although many have yet to receive this update.
