Facebook ready to release iPad app

iPad users have had to wait over a year for an official Facebook app.

FACEBOOK WILL RELEASE its own app for the iPad in the coming weeks after a year of social networkers having to use third-party apps and the normal web-based interface when using their tablet.

The New York Times reports that a free iPad application that will be optimised for the tablet device will be released in the coming weeks with Mark Zuckerberg and co having spent almost a year designing, producing and testing the application for Apple’s tablet.

The paper reports that the “slick design” is tailored for the iPad and its touch screen interface. The Facebook chat and groups features will be overhauled for the tablet with the app allowing users to shoot and upload photos and videos directly from the iPad’s built-in cameras. A better web interface is also being developed for the iPad as a “supplement” to the app.
