Getting tired of Facebook's autoplay videos? Here's how to switch them off

Your data bill (and sanity) will thank you for it.

THOSE WHO USE Facebook will already be familiar with the many autoplay videos that now appear on their news feed.

While things kicked off last year thanks to the likes of the Ice Bucket Challenge, today sees videos regularly appearing in-between updates and photo albums. What’s worse is they autoplay.

While you’ve had the option to limit them or turn them off completely, it’s not a bad idea to remind yourself how to turn them off, especially since they’re more prevalent now.

Desktop

Simply go into settings and select videos on the left-hand menu. Alongside adjusting the quality of videos played (SD will use up less data), you can turn off autoplay videos entirely in the second option.

iPhone/iPad

This is different than the other versions as you don’t go into Facebook’s app itself. Instead, you must go into settings and scroll down to the Facebook option. By going into settings, you will see the auto-play option where you can turn it off or make it a Wi-Fi only feature

Android

In the app, you must find ‘App Settings’ in the menu section. You’ll have to scroll down a bit to find it but when you do, you will see the Videos play automatically option where you can turn it off or make it a Wi-Fi only feature.
