IRISH FORESTRY GROUP Coillte says it exported to a record number of countries across the world during 2012.

The forestry group reported it had exported to 32 countries as a result of a “concerted effort” to seek out new markets for its wood panel products.

The UK and Europe remain the largest markets for Coillte Panel Products, while nations including Bahrain, Lebanon, Mexico and South Africa have also increased their imports of Coillte’s products.

“Coillte’s Panel Products are widely regarded as some of the most innovative wood products in the world. This continued expansion into new markets demonstrates our commitment to seeking out new uses for the great wood fibre resource we manage,” said Tom Byrne, Head of Corporate Communications at Coillte.

Coillte has also announced that it has been selected to represent Ireland as a National Champion at the European Business Awards.
