IMPACT HAVE VOTED 96% to 4% for industrial action at Aer Lingus after a turn out of over 65%.

Impact cabin crew have been balloting over the last few weeks on what they call a railroading through of new rosters an increase of the crew’s working time to 850 hours a year.

Aer Lingus management say this is untrue and that they are simply carrying out €97 million cost-cutting plan called Greenfield.

Speaking to RTE Impact said that any proposed industrial action will not affect passengers.

Impact say that no flight will be affected by the action and that passengers will not know industrial action is under way. The union say they will be working to their normal contracts and that action will only escalate if management discipline their workers for doing so.

Christoph Mueller had previously threatened to make them all cabin crew who did not vote for Greenfield redundant. A move that led to cabin crews acceptance of the agreement in March.
