WE’VE SEEN A couple of photos recently of what appears to be Apple’s “cheap” iPhone 5C.
The smartphone is rumored to be made from cheaper materials like plastic instead of the usual glass and aluminum.
Blogger and “leak expert” Sonny Dickson got his hands on some high-quality shots of what very well could be Apple’s iPhone 5C.
These photos follow the recent leaks we’ve seen and are the best we’ve seen so far.
They give us a good idea of what we may see from Apple in just a few short weeks:

About time they brought a cheaper product out, getting their arses handed to them by Samsung

Nokia sure make fine hardware but that means nothing if the OS is crap. It’s why they suffered with Symbian and will continue suffering with Windows.
Dual core …s4 is quad core……Nokia’s are very poor in comparison to the s4 ……
s4 is 500 quid ,your comparing a Ferrari to a focus ,most people dont use the S4 to its full capacity .I have one and my work phone is a lumia 925 .I never thought I would say it but I prefere the 925

@ Barry. I have to disagree with you mostly on the Windows OS being crap. The Windows OS is fast and fluid, it’s rock-solid stable, and its built-in apps and browser work well but it’s app store is lacking in popular apps that I enjoy on android but they are getting better
And you can also get the s4 as an octo core version
The 4 versus 8 core S4 isn’t anything worth worrying about. The 8 core only uses 4 at a time anyway. Comparison here:

Symbian was better in many ways than the excuse for an OS they are loading onto their phones these days
This goes completely against Steve Jobs ethos for apple. He never would have cheapened the brand by releasing a budget version. Apple might be getting a bit scared…
I agree, Apple should be scared. The iPhone is falling behind and this tactic of making a cheap iPhone is not going to solve their problems.
We’ll see when the new OS comes out in September.

The battery on the Iphone 4s is disgraceful, Be lucky to get more than 10 hours from it. You cant remove the battery either nor can you add storage,
Samsung S3/S4 all the way. Much much better devices.
My battery works perfectly fine. I charge it once every day. This is true of all smartphones give or take. Could the battery be better? Sure. But it doesn’t take away from the fact that its a fantastic piece of technology.
And everyone I know that changed to Samsung regretted it.
True Karol, both great devices in their own right. Its all personal preference.

They should’ve done this years ago. Apple have been selling white plastic Macbooks for years and they were very popular alongside their Macbook Pro line. Same OS X ecosystem. Not as bombproof but more or less same functionality.
People only use a fraction of the power of their smartphones. There is a huge market for a less powerful iOS phone.
I have been an Apple user for over 15 years iMac, Macbooks, Macbook Pros. More recently iPad.
The closed iOS ecosystem turned me off their little devices for years. They are still restrictive and I find android a better OS for my phone. I might go for this though just to have all my devices in the same ecosystem.
Apple know they need to change, ut will be interesting to see how much it will retail for. Looking at the likes of the new aluminium HTC one and the new nokia lumia range for just over €400 pre pay, the days of paying €700 for a Iphone are coming to a end

The new nokias are great phones, and believe it or not windows os is an excellent operating system which is more than I can say or have ever said about windows desk/laptop versions ..

Nokia died a terrible death when all the new smartphones started coming on board but now they have picked themselves up & dusted themselves down… I recently changed to the new nokia 920 & could not be happier with it… windows 8 which is designed for mobile phones works a dream, the camera is way better then the I-phone camera & has better battery life then apple phones… now u wonder why anyone would buy nokia… They have really come back in to the market & are up there with the top of the range smart phones for a fraction of the costs…
I would. Their hardware is top notch and the camera video and pictures are easily the best in smartphones these days. They just suffer from a bad operating system but there is hope if Microsoft get their act together.

The resale value of iphones is actually pretty high. What good is having good hardware without good software. It’s like having a ferrari with an empty fuel tank.
I still have a Nokia for work, I took it out in a pub in Galway one weekend and a bunch of girls on a hens picked it up and laughed at it, they were amazed somebody still used one.

the old nokias are probably the most ethical.
I had an iPhone in my pocket with my wallet, when I opened the wallet a tenner was missing, the iPhone denied everything. Totally unethical, swapped it for a Samsung.
@phoniex do you apply that to everything you buy?for eg clothes from sweat shops in India across Asia.fruit,coffee exploited from poor farmers in Africa South America.electronics from Asia?im afraid it’s very hard to find many products truly etichal
Lads if ye think the factories were they are made are bad, you should look up “blood in the mobile” and find out about all the rare metals used in the phone come from! NO phone is ethical!

Apple have one trump card ,Appstore ,there phones are not very good when it comes to phone stuff .Best camera is high end Nokia , best mp3 is android (40 quid to add 64gb sd) best operating system is Apple but windows is catching up .Battery is easily Nokia.
The play store on android is equal to, if not better than the app store. The ios has to be the most restrictive and cumbersome os in existence. Jelly bean beats it hands down.
Ios is smoother and faster ,as it has dedicated memory .Having switched away from Apple I can see the difference .
iOS makes its far easier to listen to podcasts.
That bring said, my apple contract is nearly up and I can’t wait to get my hands on the S4.
Having gone from iPhone to an android (work gave me it) iOS is far far superior to android. How I miss the simplicity and stability of iOS.
Not to mention if it has the current iPhone 5 software them then it will no doubt cost €450-€500 anyway. Cheap?! You’d get a ’98 corsa for that!
iCheap, apple are now trying to gain the low to mid range market, they have missed the boat with the same boring design and OS for the last few years.
S4 has it all. It needs a bit of TLC to get it humming though which is where most iphone mongs fall down when they make the switch.
Samsung win by a long mile. Left apple after the first iphone. Galaxy S phones are the only ones that tempt me right now until a decent rival comes.
Treated myself to a new budget smartphone recently. It’s not iPhone, Samsung, Sony, Nokia or HTC. 100 euro, no contract (I never buy contract phones), runs Jelly Bean out of the box, added a 32gb sd card (could prob double to 64gb). Has an adequate camera and video mode,but nothing fancy. I’m as happy as Larry with it.

The fact it’s already considered the “Cheap iPhone” is off putting and embarrassing. It automatically gives it a certain stigma that will not attract customers. Tbh it looks so cheap aswel, and cover or not the screen will look like cheap sensitive touch plastic with semi-iPhone software. Why don’t the just make an iPhone mini ? It would be cheaper to make. Lol
Apple have brand loyalty. You find people that have an iPhone have a collection of other apple products. I got the iPhone when it came out and changed a few times from apple to Nokia to HTC and I always go back to iPhone. I know a lot of other ppl who moved away from iPhone on the advice of people and went back too. Only complaint with iPhone is that the battery life is atrocious!
The battery life on the iPhone 4 was ok (I thought) it got worse with the iPhone 4s. I hear the iPhone 5 is worse again.

I would put a lot of money on apple to not produce a cheaper phone..it would damage their brand reputation so much. Its all lies and rumours to create hype. Not gonna happen.
You would lose a lot of money so! the 5c is happening, as is the 5s. Both will be announced by the 5th Sept

Their not ‘Smart’ Phones anymore! Now their just ‘Phones’. We don’t want to spend €500 anymore for a phone that uses FB or Journal.ie.
I dont get the point of a cheap plastic iphone. The whole point of apple is quality materials, quality build quality feel.
Cheap plastic products will devalue the brand.
