THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Officer at Denis O’Brien’s Communicorp has stepped down after 16 years in the top job.
A statement from the company said Paddy Halpenny had expressed his intention to resign earlier this year.
The firm announced the appointment of Gervaise Slowey as the new CEO of the Radio Group. The former global client director with Olgilvy and Mather will take up the post on 4 February.
Communicorp chairperson Lucy Gaffney said, “The work accomplished by Patrick Halpenny has considerably strengthened Communicorp Group and will enable the organisation to continue to perform strongly in difficult economic circumstances.”
Communicorp is the parent firm for a number of radio stations and digital media service companies. It was founded in 1989 by Denis O’Brien and currently employs about 1,000 people across seven countries. Its headquarters are in Dublin.
