Central Banker to present personal debt stats to Oireachtas committee

Statistician Joe McNeill is due to give the Committee on Finance an overview of non-mortgage personal debt in Ireland later today.

A CENTRAL BANK statistician is to discuss non-mortgage personal debt in Ireland with the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform this afternoon.

Joe McNeill of the Central Bank is expected to provide situation an overview of the debt to the committee.

The committee chair Alex White TD said that while there has been a lot of focus on mortgage debt problems in Ireland, the level of personal debt is also an issue that needs to be tackled.

The Labour TD says that the evidence presented to the committee today will help to inform the committee’s report on personal and household debt.

“To deal with a situation, it is important to quantify it,” he said. “[At the meeting] we will have a chance to get an in-depth overview of the personal debt situation in Ireland, whether it is in term loans, credit card debt, overdrafts or credit union loans.”

You can follow the committee proceedings live online here (click on Committee Room 4) from 2pm.

What about them telling us how much Matthew Elderield has cost the country by putting Quinn Insurance into administration, what Anglo has cost the taxpayers in its vindictive and futile legal challenges against Sean Quinn, the greatest job creator this country has ever produced plus the massive PR bill for their propaganda to attempt to fool the people of Ireland .in this scam
How refreshing it was to watch George Lee’s Business programme on RTE 1 on Monday where Ross Mc Guire, a barrister with New Beginnings, conclude that Anglo’s actions in challenging Sean Quinn’s bankruptcy in Northern Ireland was vindictive.
At last, the truth is beginning to dawn on people and that not alone are they being conned by Anglo but they are also being made pay the PR bill to ensure that the wool is being puled over thier eyes. Go to http://www..quinn-anglo-story-blogspot.com to read more scandalous acts carrie out by Anglo and facilitated by our Government.

    Correct Patricia

Watch as Alan Shatter with his big dyed wig of hair pontificates D4 style about the ”3 Year Irish Bankruptcy Laws”

I would not be surprised that if you filed in the Four Courts today that you would still be under the 12 year ”Death Sentence” regime.

This is what happens when are Government are exposed at being a Lazy bunch of institutionalized, self serving inept, incapable ex school teachers.

I wish all of our very capable business people and entrepreneurs the very best with all of their new business ventures in the U.K.

    God Save The Queen

Our government are obviously hell bent on keeping these guys in the ”Sin Bin” indefinitely over here.

People are not paying their household debt because our banks are closed for business.

So even if you are a good little ”debt slave” and pay all of your ”inflated” loans, your ”friendly” bank will only reward you by
    Cancelling your overdraft
    Reducing your credit card limit(s)
    Increasing your interest rate(s)
Illegally cleaning out you current account(s) to offset against your loans.
    Accusing you of being overstretched.
Telling you to starve your kids so that you can pay your mortgage.
    Closing down their local branch.
Closing your account(s) because they are no longer ”profitable” for them.
Frustrating your accounts so as to force you into arrears and into the dark abyss.
    etc
    etc
    etc

So be a good little debt slave
    and
    trust your friendly bank
they will look after you and your children.

Patricia- stop worrying about it. Irish people will never stand together and stand up for themselves. Move on- you’re wasting your time.

    Yes Kerry
Our government and regulator done that though.

However this is nothing compared to what this country has gained from Sean Quinn.

But I hear the price of car insurance for young Irish people is coming down again
    (in Australia)
