RYANAIR HAS HAD to cancel 96 flights today due to a strike in Italy.

The airline said that due to the Italian Air Traffic Control strike, the 96 flights to and from Italy will be cancelled today between 12.30am and 16.30pm (Italian time).

It added that further flight delays and cancellations should be expected.

If you’re due to travel today, you’re advised to check the status of your flight on the Ryanair.com website before departing for the airport.

Affected passengers have been sent flight updates via email and text, and flight updates will also be posted on the @Ryanair Twitter page and Ryanair.com.

Passengers booked to travel on flights to/from Italy today can transfer onto alternative flights by contacting Ryanair’s reservation centres.

Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said:

We sincerely apologise to all passengers who have had their travel plans disrupted by these unjustified ATC strikes.

In Britain, the strike has also affected a number of airlines, including easyJet and British Airways.
