Bill Gates back at the top of America’s Richest list

Microsoft’s founder is the worth more than the Anglo bailout.

FORBES HAS RELEASED its list of the 400 richest Americans, and Bill Gates has come out on top again with a fortune of $54bn.

The list is based on Forbes’ own estimations, and this year’s group needed to have at least $1bn behind them to make the cut.

The top 10 list is the same as last year, writes the LA Times, although the order has shuffled around a bit.

    New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg just made it into the top 10, with bn.

    Google co-founders Sergey Brin (L) and Larry Page (R) come in at 12th and 11th respectively, with bn apiece.

    The joint-youngest person to make the list, Mark Zuckerberg, 26, CEO of Facebook is estimated to have .9bn. The other 26-year-old to make the list is his former business partner Dustin Moskovitz who came in at #290 with 27378.4bn.

    Director Steven Spielberg, (L), and producer George Lucas hold a fortune of .25bn between them. Lucas is at #97 with .25bn and Spielberg is ranked 110th with bn.
  • #15, #18 and #42

    The technology and online sectors are still bringing in big earnings: Apple CEO Steve Jobs is at #42 with .1bn, Michael Dell stands at #15 with bn, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos comes in 18th with 12.6bn.

    Media magnate Rupert Murdoch is ranked #38, with an estimated €6.2bn.

    Manchester United owner Malcolm Glazer and his family (sons Joel (R) and Avram Glazer pictured here) are collectively believed to have a fortune of .6bn, putting them in #136.
