TV3's Ben Frow to be new programmes director at Channel 5

The TV3 director of programming is moving back to the UK in the new year.

TV3′S OUTGOING DIRECTOR of programming, Ben Frow, has secured a new job at Channel 5 where he will be director of programmes.

Frow announced that he was leaving TV3 last month having previously expressed frustration with a shrinking budget at the independent broadcaster.

He was previously Channel 5′s controller of features and entertainment before moving to TV3 in 2007 where he has been responsible for the development of some of the channel’s most successful shows including Tallafornia and Celebrity Salon.

Returning to the UK, Frow will replace Jeff Ford who resigned his role as director of programmes at the Richard Desmond-owned broadcaster in October.

Frow will take up his role in the new year and said today in a statement from Channel 5′s owners Northern and Shell: “The last five years in Ireland have been some of the most rewarding of my career, but I’m ready for a new challenge and the opportunity to rejoin Channel 5 was simply too good to resist – we have unfinished business!

“I look forward to getting stuck in, building on the great work by Jeff Ford and the team, to create a strong schedule and some must-see, talk about, brand enhancing television.”

TV3 has not yet announced a decision on his replacement.
