Apple is putting in its biggest-ever order for iPhones

4.7 inch and 5.5 inch models will enter production in the coming weeks.

APPLE IS ORDERING massive quantities of both the 4.7-inch and the 5.5-inch versions of the iPhone 6, which will launch this fall, according to the Wall Street Journal.

WSJ cites unnamed supply chain sources claiming that Apple has ordered 70 million to 80 million iPhones to be produced by the end of the year.

The size of Apple’s order suggests its confidence in the forthcoming device. Last year, Apple ordered around 50 to 60 million for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch.

WSJ notes that Apple’s increased demand for the iPhone is a result of its partnership with China Mobile and the desire to popularize the smartphone in emerging markets.

Suppliers Foxconn and Pegatron will begin producing the 4.7-inch iPhone next month. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. will begin manufacturing the 5.5-inch model in September, the WSJ reports.

That likely means the 5.5-inch model won’t launch until a month or two after the 4.7-inch model.

Smart phones are amazing (to me, at least). They store all your contacts, diary, information etc. As well as doing your banking, letting you read books, listen to the radio, watch movies/TV – and go on the internet.

    I’m an iPhone user.

I have the 4s but I didn’t feel the need to rush out and buy the 5, 5c or 5s and I certainly won’t be rushing out to buy the 6 and 6 (insert letter here) The one I have is great there is no need for another phone and I have it 3 or 4 years

I wouldn’t bother upgrading your ios software then. Apple have a habit of making older devices painfully slow on the newer versions of software.

No older devices don’t have the processing power required. Same with android/windows etc etc. I don’t upgrade my phone often but am appreciative of the new functionality in updates (iOS and android).

One of the main features, specifically the smaller memory footprint, of the Kit Kat update, for Android was to streamline it, so it could run on older browsers.

Next year when you stop getting iOS updates and the phone becomes slow, unusable and dies a lot you will probably have to get the new iPhone this happened to me, my 3G just broke last summer and I got a HTC one instead and wish I had just got the 5 but eventually I was able to get rid of the HTC one and got the 5s, I knew iPhones don’t have a long shelf life, probably about 4 years

Through the internet, I bought a Cubot P5 (smart phone) from China for €55. It was a bit of a risk – but the phone came in about 15 days.

Its a knockoff (copy) of a Samsung Galaxy. It works great and I use it on sim-only deal for €10 a month.

    Great value. I think.

Same specs as the original HTC One, 13mp camera and front facing one as well, 1GB of ram, etc…
Savage phone. Would definitely recommend going the Chinese route when it comes to buying a new phone unless you need one urgently.

Xiaomi and OnePlus are going to cause major headaches for Apple and Samsung, flagship devices at half the price.

They’re already outselling Apple in China, where Apple only started selling in January. The’re also expanding into most of the big emerging markets – India, Brazil, Russia.

I currently have a Nexus 5, but I reckon I’ll be getting either one of them, out of curiosity, as soon as they’re available here. Both look fantastic.

As much as I like my iPad I dislike apple as a company ! They won’t allow 3rd party charge cables to charge your devices ( and if it does it 10 times slower) and all their accessories area complete rip off.. They charge 22 euro for a scabby cable that you can buy off eBay for 2 euro but sadly they keep changing the software to stop 3rd party cables from working and I should know because I,m stuck with loads lol..

Because there was cases of people being burnt and even dying after using these so called cheap cables. That’s the reason Apple rolled out an update to lock these cables out in a recent iOS update. People might say that Apple are using it as an excuse to rip people off but if that was the case they would have done it long ago

There is a real story here. Benzene and n-hexane are used in the manufacturing process of iPhones. The Chinese workers who are employed to make these phones perform mind-numbingly monotonous tasks for a tiny wage, and the likelihood is very high that they end up dying because these chemicals can cause nerve damage, paralysis, cancer or reproductive abnormalities. Safer chemicals could be used, but the components cleaned by these substances dry more quickly so the production line moves faster. Apple has been called upon to stop using these chemicals, but nobody has suggested boycotting the iPhone.

I bought an iPhone 3 about 6/7 years ago and it still does everything I need i.e its a working phone, I can get my emails, I can access the internet, take pictures, listen to music and play a few games…

All the sheeple buy the new version every time it’s launched. I can live with the extra nanoseconds it takes for the browser and apps to launch on my ‘old’ phone.
