Good news for Airtricity customers: Your bills will be lower from April

Dual fuel customers stand to save an average of €58.

ENERGY PROVIDER SSE Airtricity has announced today that it will reduce its household energy prices from April 2015.

According to the company, this will save dual fuel customers an average of €58 and Pay-As-You-Go customers an average of €55. Prices will be cut for new and existing customers by 4% for natural gas and 2% for electricity. The reduction will apply to around 440,000 SSE Airtricity household customers.

“We’ve always made the commitment that if we can lower prices, we will,” commented the company’s managing director Stephen Wheeler today.

I’m pleased today that we’re announcing price cuts to our standard unit rates as well as our standing charges that will save our dual fuel customers €58 on average. In this way we’re delivering on our commitment and making a difference for our customers.

Minister for Energey Alex White welcomed the announcement and said he has begun a series of meetings with all the domestic energy suppliers today with the hope of seeing others take similar decisions to reduce their domestic energy prices.

Last week, Bord Gáis also announced cuts to unit rates of both gas and electricity, reducing its customers’ average bills by €54.38.
